Status: non-programmer, learning A5
Objective: Permit a user (i) to see a parent form ("Organization") on which there is an embedded child browse showing all personnel (in a broader "Individual" table) who are employees of the Organization ***and*** (ii) also to use an embedded browse to permit the user to scan through the browse and pick the organization out.
Example: Company ABC has Moe, Larry and Curly as its employees. There is a unique Organization record for ABC. Each of Moe, Larry and Curly have unique Individual records, but on each it is noted that they are employees of ABC.
Simple Technique: Create set containing Organization as parent, one-to-many link to Individual, linked on "Org ID" (the autoinc unique Org. field). Create form at set level.
Embed browse at one to many level to Individuals. Works fine.
Problem: When I create an embedded browse at the set level to permit the user to search for Organization names, there are 3 records for ABC at the set level, each listing a single individual. Logical, but NOT what I want for the users, who have less than a clue about databases.
Question: Is there some way that I can do a browse at the Organization level that will only show one Organization record, but still permit an embedded browse showing Moe, Larry and Curly?
Even a hint would be helpful, since I am determined to master this program so I can do some worthwhile "stuff" for my firm. {yes, this may take more than a few hours...lol}
