Faxing from A5

I have a client that uses an internet fax service. She would like to be able to enter a new client into the table and then be able to send them a fax via the internet fax service.

I know this will require being able to go through the sys_shell routine, but since I am not a windows or C++ programmer, I have no idea how to go about this.

The fax service has it's own messenger program that uploads the fax and then fax's it out. I can use the following to send to the messenger:

{Date-Time}
{Note}
{Recipient Company}
{Recipient Fax Number}
{Recipent Name}
{Sender Company}
{Sender Email Address}
{Sender Fax Number}
{Sender Name}
{Sender Voice Number}
{Subject}

OK, now does anyone have any idea how I create a script to pass this info to the fax messenger?

sys_shell is essentially the same as going to a command prompt and typing a command. Can their fax software accept command-line parameters to specify the information you need to give it?

Yes, the items in the curly brackets in first message are what the messenger will accept in place of opening it and typing that info in for each fax.

Oran,

Seems to me that it will depend on what the messenger program requires.

If you can put the command sequences you describe in a text file, for example, will the messenger program accept it, maybe by passing a filename to it? The text file can be created using xbasic statements. Check Chapter 18 of the xbasic ref. manual. You will find file commands there to create, open, close, and write to text files.

Thanks Tom,

will look at that chapter, but after looking at my original question, I see that I need to refine it more. I can 'print' to the messenger and am only trying to pass the {Receiver Name} and {Receiver Fax Number} to the 'printer' so that I don't have to copy and paste those names and numbers in or add them to the messenger address book when sending a fax.
