The Alpha Software Forum Participation Guidelines
The Alpha Software Forum is a free forum created for Alpha Software Developer Community to ask for help, exchange ideas, and share solutions. Alpha Software strives to create an environment where all members of the community can feel safe to participate. In order to ensure the Alpha Software Forum is a place where all feel welcome, forum participants are expected to behave as follows:
Be sure all comments and threads you post are respectful. Posts that contain any of the following content will be considered a violation of your agreement as a member of the Alpha Software Forum Community and will be moderated:
If a thread or post is found to contain any of the content outlined above, a moderator may choose to take one of the following actions:
Moderators may also rename posts and threads if they are too generic or do not property reflect the content.
Moderators may move threads if they have been posted in the incorrect forum.
Threads/Posts questioning specific moderator decisions or actions (such as "why was a user banned?") are not allowed and will be removed.
The owners of Alpha Software Corporation (Forum Owner) reserve the right to remove, edit, move, or close any thread for any reason; or ban any forum member without notice, reason, or explanation.
Community members are encouraged to click the "Report Post" icon in the lower left of a given post if they feel the post is in violation of the rules. This will alert the Moderators to take a look.
Alpha Software Corporation may amend the guidelines from time to time and may also vary the procedures it sets out where appropriate in a particular case. Your agreement to comply with the guidelines will be deemed agreement to any changes to it.
Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting
Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.
When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.
The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.
When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.
A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.
If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.
When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.
Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

RE: Unique Post
Saved post operations are visible on the Code tab of the control panel. If you can't see the Code tab just right click on any other tab name and add a check mark beside Code in the list which will appear.

RE: Unique Post
david,
well the details of your problem are gradually getting clearer I don't think you can do what you are describing through the post field rule it's not sophisticated enough to meet your needs I think you're going to have to devise a custom script the post field rule assumes that the target table will have only one record that should be updated by addition subtraction or replacement here you're describing a target table that has multiple records with the same search key and you only want to change (update) the add field if its different than the add field in the master table

RE: Unique Post
We don't understand how this command will work, when in monviz recno #2 has add 1234 55 st
and recno #2 in all and dbf "monviz" has 2345 66 st , but recno #3 has the same add we don't want that one to be touched for changing (all of these records are for monviz dbf) not for the brookly we know how to configure only for monviz or brookly dbf but we don't know how in the same dbf some shall be posted and some not touched

RE: Unique Post
David,
after a good night's rest I re-read your last post.
If you want to replace the 'Add' field in the target table when the 'Add' field changes in the All table I think you can do it with a conditional post using table field rules.
Define separate conditional posts for each of your potential target tables. You will wind up with multiple lines in the grid in the post field rule dialog box.
This assumes that your 'Recno' field for the desired target record has the same value in your source table (All) as it does in the desired target table.
The conditional expression you'd use would vary from row to row (in the post field rule dialog) but would look like this for posts you only want to go to the monviz table:
ut(All->dbf) = "MONVIZ"
and the conditional expresson you'd use for posts you want to go to the brookly table would look like this
ut(All->dbf) = "BROOKLY"
hope this helps. -- tom

RE: Unique Post
All.dbf is a database which includes several databases as you will see in the dbf field the different names when that address gets updated you will see the recno which is linked together then you have the add field which is the address field moviz or brookly1 dbf gets posted when all address is changed

David,
Ok I have the two tables, now what? My mind reading skills are a bit rusty for me to help you need to tell me exactly how you want to change one of these tables you have not told me which is primary how they're linked or related and you have not told me what it is you want to change

RE: Unique Post
Will be easier to do this with your tables or scaled down copies of your tables provided you explain which field is used to identify and link the records between tables and provided you explain which table has the current information and provided you identify the names of the fields that needs to be updated in the second table

RE: Unique Post
normally we have 2 databases that have same field names but one gets constantly updated and both of them have number field with that field we create the link to post so please explain again with an example how to do

RE: Unique Post
David,
I was hoping for more details. Here's one approach, assuming I understand your question...
create a set link the tables one to one put the table that has the correct address in primary slot define a saved update operation for the set use an if function to update the address field in the child table if its trimmed value is not the same as the trimmed value in the primary table otherwise update the child's address field with its own existing field value
