I've just installed 2 more runtimes for an A5V45 app in an office that already had 1 W98 user & 1 W2K user (SP2). The 2 workstations that I just installed on are both running W2K SP3.
Every time I start the runtime I get a 'Program Error' window with the msg "Alpha5.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created [ OK ]"
I looked at the W2K Event log for Applications & here's one of the entries:
"The application, .\OdbcRel/Alpha5.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 05/30/2003 @ 12:01:53.140 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 007F3F60 (AA_action_command_test)"
The Install.log file in the A5V4 folder indicated that a bunch of dll files didn't copy successfully to the \WinNT\System32 folder and I assume this is due to W2K's file protection error. The files are in the system32 folder but I assume they're different vers than those with the Runtime installer???
I copied these files from the older W2K machine that runs the A5 Runtime successfully to the A5V4 folder on the 2 new systems as was suggested in one Phorum msg but still no success.
Any ideas?? -- Thanks for the help with this.

I did a search on the phorum on Runtime errors and alpha5.exe errors & didn't find a solution to this specific problem.
