Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    What's my mistake?

    As you will see in this example, I couldn't make the calculated field to work.

    But believe me that, I have tried almost everything.

    Where is my fault? Is there a mistake in the links.

    Thanks.

    A number of the calculations don't work in the example because the fields are missing. Specifically, Linkwhat->what5, linkwhat->what14, and linkwhat->what10. Without any idea of the values for these fields, it is difficult to test further. And which calculated fields specifically aren't working?

      Jerry,
      Thank you for your kind interest.

      Here , you will see the correct zipped file.

      I will be very glad if you find out the problem.

        I was able to duplicate your problem. After much testing, I did find a solution. I don't know why this is a problem, but if you rebuild the set and move the one to many link to the first link, then the calculations work. Apparently, the problem is the order in which the expressions evaluate.

        1. Open the set in design mode
        2. Delete the one to one links until only the one to many is left
        3. Add the one to one links back to the set
        4. Save the set

        Since the same tables still exist in the set, the form is unaffected. Now open the form and view the results. Everything works correctly.

          My response was premature. While this does fix the problem when the form first opens, if the form is opened again, the program crashes. Will continue to investigate.

          One issue I do see it that you have calculated fields embedded in form calculated fields, that are embedded in other calculated fields. It seems that the program is having problems running the all of the calculations at the same time. Using a calculated field as an input to another has always been a problem do to the order in which expressions are evaluated. I will see if there is a solution.

            I think I found a problem. The problem does seem to a problem with the order of calculation that leaves the "linkgood" table open. Since that table is open, none of the calculations that use that table can evaluate. I changed the calculation for the Total and it seems to work.

            First, I created a new intermediate calculated field "T1"

            total(Linkgood->Salesmik*Linkgood->Salesbir,GRP->LINKONE)

            Then, I changed the "Total" calculation to use the intermediate result.

            if(Linkwhat->What2="Plus",Calc->T1,Calc->T1*1)

            You could also do the same for "RealPrim" by creating a new calc field "P1"

            TOTAL(Linkgood->Primtoplam,GRP->Linkone)

            and then replacing the same with the P1 in "RealPrim"

            if(Linkhelp->Cashdiscounts>0,Calc->T1*(1-Linkhelp->Discrate/100),Calc->T1)

            This should work.

              Jerry,
              You were very kind to deal with my problem.

              Now, I am in a trip, and will be at home tomorrow.

              I'll try what you wrote and inform you about the result.
