Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    DIALOG FORM OPENING RULES

I have Start up Menu-FORM and from there I open other FORM,
while keeping the first menu in "HIDE".

As per various articles I read, you can just keep hiding
form(s) and call them up when needed. (Proven to be fast)

I have no problem at all with instances where I have FORM1 open, a button on Form1 open up Form2 and FORM1 being put to HIDE, another button on FORM2 would open up FORM3 and FORM2 now in hiding...

But I notice that it is not possible to do the same actions pproperly if form(s) are to be opened up in "DIALOG"... and sort a pop up another dialog... upon existing from the second dialog, returning to dialog 1
I always encountered some kind of error. I cannot remember what it was... I am curious if my action was considered ILLEGAL ?

Can someone suggest a remedy ?

I hope I describe it well
    Thanks

    RE: DIALOG FORM OPENING RULES

    Ken,

I don't believe the designers intended you to open a form in dialog mode, and then, while it's still open, open yet another form. I've always understood that you open a form in dialog mode to do one thing, and when finished, you close it. Otherwise, you don't put it in dialog mode. I'll be interested to see if others have a different approach on this. -- tom

      RE: DIALOG FORM OPENING RULES

Yes, I see the original intention..
But the Uniqueness of Dialog work well for me..

For example.. While viewing the Information page.
I have a button that say show picture... which is in
dialog.... from there... if i hit the "SEND PICTURE"
i would like another DIALOG to pop up.. asking to select a series of condition before email of such picture can go out.

I have commission my staff to write me an extremely good email processor engine to work with Alpha version 4.5
can sent ascii and pasted of PDF file...or picture etc.

I will find time to write up a documentation and shared it on the board for everyone. On my test, we literraly sent over 100 mails per day..

For example.. if the item in the inventory flagged as "important", then if someone requested it, a manager or the owner of such item will get a secret email hi...

this is the case ie: you give me 20 Toner catridges to be stored at all my logistic warehouse, i bar-coded and labelled them as we received them. when one of your office across the nation ask to have one... I will send one from one of my facility...that you(owner) will get an email to stated that oneof your toner had been shipped... all automatic without seeing.... anything like microsoft outlook etc... because we pumped all datas to a TEXT file.
and my processor will take it from there every 3 seconds.

so much about my toy hi

        Ken,

You want to: "While viewing the Information page.

dialog.... from there... if i hit the "SEND PICTURE"
i would like another DIALOG to pop up.. asking to select a series of condition before email of such picture can go out."

Why not capture the "SEND PICTURE" request, close the current dialog, open another. Another words open one at a time after closing the previous one. Seems doable.

i suppose can be done.. need to add some variables
to capture and remember thing and re-open another one..

here is another catch that i did not mention
i always hide the previous FORM... so when the picture's form show... the previous one just in hiding,... this is probably what the problem is ?

i wish i can cut out a sample and posted...

            RE: DIALOG FORM OPENING RULES

I don't think I'd hide the form calling the dialog in this case because the calling form needs to close the dialog and capture a variable that tells it (conditionally) to go on to the next operation.

Sounds like you will have licked by morning!
