Buttons Colors

Hi to all of you good people,

i have a tricky question to propose to you for wich
all the help is welcomed.

I have a tipical sell form and i have a restaurant�s tables
drawed form.

I mean a form with buttons representing tables with customers.

When i put a new order for a table i just click on the button
number 1 and it will open the sell form putting the number 1
in the TableNr field and "Table not free" in the Status field,
so far it�s ok.

Now come the challenge,i would like to do this:

in the Tables w/customers:
in the table 1 i want the number to be in red
when the Status in the sell form is "Table not free"
and "Green" when the Status is "Free".

I�ve tryed with Variables and so on but nothing happened.

Any suggestions ??

If you use xbasic scripting similar to this, it should help.

if :Tables:T1Open.value
	:Tables:T1Open.value = .f.
	:Tables:Table1.font.color = "white"
	:Tables:Table1.fill.forecolor = "red"
else
	:Tables:T1Open.value = .t.
	:Tables:Table1.font.color = "black"
	:Tables:Table1.fill.forecolor = "green"
end if

"Tables" is the table that holds info on all tables
"T1Open" is a logical variable for "Table1"

I got all the info you see here from the Xbasic Explorer window.

You should be able to come up with a way to handle all tables generically. I.e., may a User Defined Function to run the script based on the current table number. Also, don't forget to have all of your tables default to green when you open the form.

I think you want to remove the first indented line. It appears to me that this is resetting the field that the color choice is based on - you could end up with a blinking field as it switches back and forth!

Cal,

No. The variable "T1Open" is a logical variable used to describe the current state of the button. When the script begins, it checks to see if the table is open (.t.), and if so it closes the table (.f.), otherwise the opposite happens.

It does not make the button flash because it does not loop back to the beginning. It is an IF-ELSE function, and therefore concludes once the IF or ELSE condition is executed.

I've tried it out (before I posted the first message) and it works well.

Sorry, you are absolutely right. There would be no reason for it to cycle back again since it is in the OnPush event.

I must have been thinking in terms of an OnArrive or OnActivate event but even those wouldn't 'flash' they would just toggle every time the event occurred. Of course, there's always the possibility that I just wasn't thinking!
