Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Stubborn Expression

This is supposed to work. Right?

    if(Pdinfull=.t.,"12, b","")

    Thanks,

    RE: Stubborn Expression

I guess it depends on what you want it to do.
It appears that if Pdinfull is true then 12, b else blank
What is Pdinful? I'm lousy at syntax, usually use trial and error, but looks OK.

Worked for me. Returned "12, b" to a character field after marking a prior field .t. Of course, I did allow time for foreplay.

        Ken,

syntax looks ok to me, too.

However, the expression could be simplified a bit to

        if(Pdinfull, "12, b", "")

Though this should not make any difference for all practical purposes.

          RE: Stubborn Expression

This is strange, if the value is .f., clicking on the field does nothing except change it to .t.. If it is already .t. and is checked to change it to .f., then it changes to a font of 12 and italics and switches to the color black. Clicking it again to make it .t. simply changes the color to dark green.

Save the record and exit the form. Open the form and it's back to the original state, dark green and font of 8.

          Thanks,

          kenn

If it makes any difference, this is a checkbox field. However, it should make no difference. It should work.

              Ken:

              Try:

              if(Pdinfull=.t.,"arial, 12, b","")

Your syntax is missing a font designation.

If this is used with a checkbox, I seem to remember some refresh issues, but it may not be a problem in your case...

                Craig,

It does absolutely nothing. I went through this before and you created a lil' zip file which I've been looking at quite a bit. I haven't found anyplace on it where there is a refresh.

I attached the file for your reference.

                Thanks,

It does nothing. I have the colortest zip you posted the last time I went through this but can't find anything in reference to refresh.

I attached the file for your reference.

The previous example does just what I expected it to do. Perhaps I am just confusing the issue. Let's see what others make of the example... Perhaps they can build on it.

Funny, though, I forgot all about the previous thread!

                        Ken,

I see that you're back playing with colors and fonts again!

Makes me think of Henry Ford's color options for the Model 'T'.

I took a look at your form, and modified it to show two different ways to toggle the color and font equations on it.

The first uses the multistate button you were using, the second uses a simple button.

Unzip the attachment to a separate folder. do not mix it with your development work.

                          Tom,

No, the multistate button is what Craig used as an example. With the check box, I've only tried to work with a color equation and the font equation. I get the color equation to work every time with the if/then expression but the font is stubborn.

If the colors will change in a if .t., then "red","black"; the font ought to work the same way, right? (see my expression above)

                          Thanks,

                          kenn

                            Ken,

I can't get the italics to work inside a checbox. This was mentioned when we went over this same ground earlier this spring.

Here's a working model that contains a checkbox that changes font, fontsize, bold, and color when the box is checked.

                            Hope it helps.

You ran into the same problem I did in that the font equation doesn't work when used with a checkbox.

Thanks for your example. It does exactly what I need to do. It should help others as well!
