Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Ray,

You're right, a power user doesn't have admin rights. However, power users can change system settings. Whether that helps or not I don't know. Maybe a bit short.

    Ed,

Too bad. Moneys spent solving the problem could have been used for ministries. Wonder how they'd feel if it was characterized as a theft? In a significant way, that's exactly what it is.

No Ken, a Power User does not have Admin Rights.

There are many way to setup a new Admin in a Win2K server.

What is the status of the server at this time?
    Is the server running?
Can it be access by other computers in your network?
Does the server have Active Directory Install?
Is the server a Domain Controller?

There are programs on the market that will let you reset a Win2k server Admin password.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Ken,
The latest word I have now is that it was the administrator that
changed her own password and then left without saying a word to anyone.
Some of you folks have mentioned that there should be some level of
criminal intent brought against her. I seriously doubt that will
happen since this system is in a church administration office.

If the administrator changed her password, guess she's off the hook. The administrator is still around, right? Or, did the administrator take a hike as well? Inquiring minds want to know. ~(:>} Yah, that's the one lil' hair I have left on top! I think of it as my antenna.

If the administrator is gone too, I know in Win 2k, a power user has admin rights. Any power users? (Don't know if NT4 has such a thing but maybe it does under a different name??

    not a workstation, now what?

I just re-read your original post that she was simply a user. As the previous post suggests, just login as admin and delete here account or reset her password.

    Hi Gurus,
Thank you everyone for replying. I had already considered deleting
the client at server level, I was hoping there was another approach.
Actually when I think about it is easy to delete and then reassign the
    client.

    Thank you everyone,

That's precisely why IT people get fired on the spot, usually outside of the building after returning from lunch. Their belongings are handed to them in a box and they never get the chance to even look cross-eyed at the internal network again.

I echo what Tom said. The employer might want to call local law enforcement for an assist. If it is a prosecutable action, LE could give her a choice of advising of the password or facing criminal charges. The employer should NOT taake this action becasue in many states, it coercion and that is also preosecutable. LE officials are exempt.

Many employers escort the employee to their desk and stand there while they clean out just to prevent such revengeful acts.
