Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        Is this an autorun application??

Do you have any means to edit the app?

When your app comes up, click on "file" on the top of the screen, click on"Database Properties..". the Automatic Form window will appear. UNCHECK "Run on Load", and you should be able to get to where you need.

Hate to say this, but you've just gotten past my knowledge level of ver 4. I am one of the holdouts from ver 1. I am testing ver 5 to see if it will do what we need. Hopefully, someone with much more knowledge than I will be able to help, Sorry.

                    Jeff,

                    Do not dispair.

Your form (the one you're locked out of) is based on a table.

Create a new blank database. Store it in a different folder than the database we are trying to fix.

Add the table to the new database. You will then be at the control panel of the new database from which you will be able to open the form in design mode. The form does not autorun in the newly created database.

Afterwards, you can delete the new database.

Nope Jeff, just a common one. Bill's method will work. I know, I have done it more than once. Just check your code on the hotspot. Make sure it includes controlpanel.show() and topparent.close() or hide() to close or hide the form or you can't see the controlpanel even if it is open.

Hi Jeff, I seem to recall doing something similar many years ago. Someone told me about a certain keystroke combination to hold while you enter the program which gets you straight into the control panel.Don't think I dreamt it, but I have forgotten it. Perhaps someone else knows what I am refering to

                        Hope you get it sorted

I knew someone smarter than me would have a ready answer.

                            David,

If you have an autoexec script, holding the shift key down when you open the database prevents the script from running and you go right to the control panel. However, I do not think this method would prevent a from from loading if it was specified to run on load in database properties.

PS no credit due to me for the remedy. I read it right here.
