Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Calendar & Toolbox Addin 2.10

I have trouble using my calendar 2.10 addin, when I want to open the calendar in xbasic or the interactive window I got the message: TOO FEW PARAMETERS

    Calendar_Month_Saved("data_verlofkaart")

    Calendar_Month_Saved("data_verlofkaart","cal_verlofkaart")

Is there a new command for the montly calendar or am I doing something wrong?

    Regards,
    Jacques

I am unable to duplicate that fault with any scenario. The code should be correct if "data_verlofkaart" is a table and "cal_verlofkaart" is a saved design. The calendar functions have built in error checking to verify the table name and/or calendar name is correct.

The only reason I can think for the error a failure of a built in Alpha function. What A5 build are you using? Some of the commands in the program require later builds to work correctly. This is covered in the FAQ available from the addin menu.

Can you open the genie and resave the calendar design? It is possible some data may not be saved correctly and therefore not fill in various functions used in the code, which would cause an error.

If you would like, zip up the table or set and related data dictionaries with the calendar design and send it to the my email address. If it is a set, I would need copies of the linked tables. You could also just zip up the whole database. I can check out the table and saved design and see why it isn't working.

      Hi Jerry

I updaded Alpha to the last version, problem is still there. The calendar worked fine with the previous version of Calendar.

Hope that I packed all files you need.

The calendar opens correctly on my computer. Perhaps the download of the new version was corrupted. I would try to download it again and reinstall.

Selecting the table, using the menu Table-Addins-Monthly Calendar-Monthly Calandar Full Week works like a charm.
Only when I use the command Calendar_Month_Saved("data_verlofkaart") it displays the error message. I have attached a jpg image of this error in a .zip.

              Jacques,

I put Calendar_Month_Saved("data_verlofkaart") in a button script on your sample form and it worked perfectly. Like Jerry said, I would try downloading the update again and see if that clears the problem. I am using the latest A5 build with w2k.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

That is very odd. The code from the menu is just

                Calendar_Month_Saved(controlpanel.active())

which just places the name and path of the highlighted table/set into the function. This is the same as if you are doing it manually. The only thng I can think might cause a problem would be if the table or set is not in the same directory as the database. In that case, you can try using the full path for the table as the input. controlpanel.active() returns the full path, so that might be the problem.

If that is the case, let me know. Right now the addin adds the current database path if none is specified.

                  Hi Jerry

Well I think I found out why it would not work. Shoot me if I'm wrong. First of all the calendar works perfectly, altough not the way I wanted it to be.

I have a form that users a table called data_verlof. On that form i placed a button to open the calandar. The calandar by the way is also linked to the table data_verlof. doing so results in the error message I previously described.

Placing the button in any other form or toolbar that isn't linked to the same data_verlof table resolves the problem. The calendar works like a charm.

That is actually the normal way to use the calendar and it should open. The only reason it may not is if the table is open in exclusive mode or locked. This could happen if the table is a child in a set, referential integrity is on, and the table is in edit mode.

I have tried every combination I can think of and can not duplicate your error. I even opened a calendar from a form with the record in change mode and the calendar opened correctly. If you could send a zipped copy of the database with the form that doesn't work, I would like to look at it and see why is doesn't work in your case. Just send it to my email address on my nname on this post.
