Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Netmailer-Read Receipt

    To all:
Can Netmailer send a return receipt back to the sender when the email is read?

    RE: Netmailer-Read Receipt

Hi Charlie, This is not a feature that I think most people would want - self spamming email - yikes...

The method typically used for monitoring email reads is to embed a 1x1 pixel image in the email - call it open.gif and put it in its own folder on your server (with the name of the email campaign) now just use webtrends or some other log file reporting script to count the hits on the image.

    Cheers

      RE: Netmailer-Read Receipt

      Marc:
I am trying to see if most people are blocking bulk mail.
I sent out 54 leads with netmailer and got 2 responses in 36 hours.

I sent out 20 leads with email with return receipts and saw where 5 people opened the email in 5 minutes.

It would be nice to know who is actually reading the emails for follow-ups

        RE: Netmailer-Read Receipt

I do a lot of corporate broadcast email advertising to purchased lists from D&B, DigitalImpact and others. The industry standard response rate even with opt in lead generation is only 3% - 5% so your numbers are not supprising.

In B2B marketing there is a higher perpensity for an impending event that may generate interest in a business solution offer. So these types of mailings are generally not considered spam if your lists are opt in or otherwise demographically accurate. Mailings typically run 6000 (300 responses),15000 (1800 responses)...

Many of the top tier CRM systems use the previously mentioned 1x1 pixel image method. There is another method used to programatically track each email with a random hash of numbers "qwaesrw43rw423wrsg" as an ID. This has been employed by MS and others but is losing favor as the long tracking number is directly associated with spam.

          RE: Netmailer-Read Receipt

Read receipts are not a standard, and it is up to the email client and end user to decide if they want to send the read receipt back, but....

You can go to the headers tab and specify the following custom headers:

          Code:
          Disposition-Notification-To: "[email protected]>
          X-RCPT-TO: "[email protected]>
          Hope this helps

            Let's try this again:

            Disposition-Notification-To: "[email protected]>
            X-RCPT-TO: "[email protected]>
