Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Tabs disappearing?

I have a form which includes a tabbed object with three tabs. On the third tabbed page there is a browse. This is set to call another form if a row is double clicked (zoom to record). When that form is closed and I am returned to the original form the tabs hav disappeared, but... are still there ie: if I click in the area where they are then you are taken to that tab and they appear again?

    Any thoughts?

    RE: Tabs disappearing?

    Glen,

Do your tabs comeback if you hit F5?

If so you need to refresh or repaint your tabbed object or form.

Sounds like thats all it is.

No F5 does not work (forgot to mention that was the first thing I tried!)

        RE: Tabs disappearing?

        Glen,

Try doing a form refresh after the zoomto .. If that doesn't help a work around would be to close or hide the form if its calling your browse, then reopen or show it on the zoomto or changing tabs.

The only other thing that might be going on is your video card or monitor refresh. That is if it happens on more then this form.

Check out Alpha Sports and see if it happens there.

        Good luck,

        Scott

My app, in A5V4, displays a similar behavior. The tabs are still there, just not visible. The staff has learned to click where the tab is supposed to show and all tabs appear immediately. I've never tried to track the cause of the behavior since the work around is so easy. I expect it has something to do with the video system.

            RE: Tabs disappearing?

            Glen,

I've experienced the same problem, i.e., tabs on a tabbed form periodically disappearing. I've got them to come back by: clicking refresh, F5, cussing, or closing and reloading A5. Also, I've had the tabs come back after scrolling up and down a few times.

If you want to try the cussing option, I've found that a varied mix of expletives works best.

Based on nothing other than a gut feel, I think the problem is video driver related. BTW, I'm running build 1454-1042.

Do you have those expletives held in field rules under "check exceptions"? :-)

Exactly as described above, they are there but invisible. I have a refresh built into various form events but no luck. Curious?

                Glen,

Have you contacted Selwyn? I know I've seen similar posts on randomly disappearing/appearing objects. From what I remember, all suggestions seem to point to video driver issues.
