Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    To Front - NOT

Have an existing tabbed form with 8 buttons which call scripts, works fine.

Have added 7 new buttons but no matter what I do, at the most only 1 or 2 can be pushed. Have tried "to front, forward 1" etc. The strange thing is while arranging to front different buttons are activated.

All my original buttons work fine. Have been trying to fix for a week.

Build 1408-1035, Win 98 SE (2 Machines), XP Home on 1 machine.

    Anyone else experiencing this anomoly.

    Thanks, John

    Hi John....

Have you tried taking them off of the tab to an open part of the form.... then selecting them & "send to front" ?

if not might be worth a try....

          Compact has no affect.

However if I design on my laptop (XP Home), I can get it to work. Still no luck on Win 98 SE.

          G figure

              Try this one on.

On the laptop (XP) copied all to CD.

Loaded on home computer (Win 98 SE) and works like a charm.

Must be a problem with win 98 SE.

Doubtful as I had just previously copied the other way.

but it works now when copied from win xp..... what changed with win 98???
seems like it had to be something with the app... & most likely with the form???

or are you saying you installed xp on the home desktop??

                      Doug

Home computer has win 98 SE
                      Laptop XP Home

Form will "design" correctly on laptop (XP), but not on home (98 SE). Once the design is done in XP then the form will operate correctly in either O/S

                        Doug,

Make a copy and then delete the last button you put on the tabbed object. Try it. if the problem persists, delete the next button. Keep doing this until you get to the point where the problem stops.

One other thought, Do any of the buttons touch the edge of the tabbed object? If so, move them in a bit so they're not touching the edge.

                        TYVM :) kenn

Knowing what you can achieve will not become reality until you imagine and explore.

                          That's strange......

maybe its a bios or display issue, who knows..... it could be propriatary to that particular system..??? If you ever get a definitive answer... I would be interested in knowing! What about different builds.... is that a posibility?

                            Hi ken....

That sounds more like where the problem lies.....

I just can't figure why it works on XP & not 98? If he designs it in XP then it works in 98..???

well if he designed a new form in XP, then he may have eliminated the problem..???

Same builds and the buttons are no where near the edge of the tabbed form.

Seems to be an issue with Win SE

                              Thanks
