RE: CPU Usage Constantly at 100%
The only other application I have that has a similar effect is a utility that converts MP3 files from one bit rate to another. I know why that eats up so much processing power as I have it set to convert everything as professionally as possible and that eats up resources, particularly CPU as there is a lot of processing involved.
Other than that absolutely nothing, and I use a lot of different packages, eats up processor like that. I have 64 meg graphics card with the latest NVidea drivers and they appear to work to work fine.
I've just checked Alpha one more time with the Task Manager Open and here is what happens.
On opening Alpha it shoots up to 60% to 70% and bounces around briefly for a few seconds before dropping to around 5%.
I open a database and it bounces around for a while. This time the range is between 10% and 80%, but on the whole it is at the lower end of the scale.
I open a tabbed form with just two records and watch the processor usage bounce around some more. I go to add a new record and up she goes - right up to 100% where she sits stubbornly refusing to move until I close Alpha and I shoot straight back down to 4% where it remains even though I have six major applications open.
I wish I could uncover the mystery as I'd dearly like to start using Alpha, but I've spent a lot of time trying to fix it and drawn a complete blank.
Thanks for you helpful posts on this guys.
