Hi,
I have a structural problem which I cannot solve. Any ideas would be a help.
The problem is using the result of a look-up, to find another look-up. Or achieving the same result.
Put simply :-
There are 3 tables.
Table A: has fields:-
item number1,item name1,accessory number1,accessory name1
item number2,item name2,accessory number2,accessory name2
Table B: has fields:-
Item number, item name,accessory number
Table C: has fields:-
accessory number, accessory name
The idea is that on entering a new record (in table A) it will be possible to enter the item number, that will look-up the item in table B, and thus enter the accessory number1 of the item in the accessory number1 field in table A.
(that works ok, as it should)
Then:-
using the accessory number1 that has been entered, via the look_up, to accessory number1 field in table A, there needs to be an automatic look-up of the accessories table to fill accessories name1.
Then the same with item 2, etc.
(Use for this might be a car hire company having different models/details of cars, but of the same charge rate and classification, etc.)
With a set, it works, but it needs to be a permanent record in a table. If changes are afterwards made to those tables, the original entry to table A should remain.
I have tried using variables, but A6 wants to have the input via the keyboard for the field to make the look-up, it seems. Any ideas would be very welcome.
Brian Dennis.
