Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Unexpected internal Alpha Five error

Received following error message after attempting to open form in design mode.

Source code (not on your machine) C:\dev\a5v8\src\A_IUTIL\General\Propbase.cpp at line 235

It also fails to open the form in view mode saying it Cannot load specified form "Main Senate". Using a default form instead.

I reported this as a bug during pre release trials. This error appears when editing a form in design mode and then presssing view in menu bar without first saving the design layout changes. THIS IS NOT TRUE IN EVERY EDIT CASE.
I found that this happens after editing or adding calculated fields to the design or using a conditional format expression that does not result correctly due to typos or expression errors.
Since RC3 have in these cases received a different warning that the "$$$$ temp file is unavaiable and a default form opens with the original form still open in design mode on the screen. If I close the default form view and then save the design layout, close it then the resulting view of the form requested opens. Before RC3 the form remained corrupted and your error appeared on the screen at ervery attempt to use form in question.
Result: hrs of toil in vain.
With regards to the content of the error message there is no need to re install
      AV8
as the only people using the path in question

      are the program developers.

      But then again:
Basic research is what I am doing when I don't know what I am doing and to steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research!

Mea culpa. I misread your post, was refering to another problem.

Also encountered your problem & as Chris stated it was a bug which has been recently fixed.

        Sorry for the confusion.

This bug is fixed in the patch - the beta can be downloaded at:

            http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/a...chdownload.htm

this same internal error was reported against a different form, and was fixed last week.

I have downloaded this link 3 times and when I go to V8 help, it states that I have build 1262_3056 not the 1264_3057
