Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

not all files were successfully restored

    Hello ,
I'm using out of five version 8 for a while now and have been able to backup the database from my office machine to my laptop with no problems.
But recently when I try to restore the database into my laptop I get a notice Window "not all files were successfully restored. 16 files restored, and six not restored. See trace window for details."

By clicking OK, the database will open up and one of my tables( the new one that I was working on) has a " ? " and It does not open ...

my office machine is able to restore from the same zip just fine, but not in my laptop. I tried zipping it or moving the whole folder from one machine to the other different setting was no success searching the form did not produce this err

Any help to figure out whats was going on or what to do next would be appreciated.

Re: not all files were successfully restored

Check that the table with the "?" is stored in the same directory as the other tables. If it is not, you may need to modify your backup procedure so you backup this table as well.

Are you using Alpha5's native backup feature to handle your backup and restores? I am assuming so because you mentioned that the error message suggested to view the Trace window for error details. Did you troubleshoot any of the error messages in the trace window? Were any of them related to the table with the "?" ?

It is also possible that the backup file you are attempting to use is corrupted.

      Hello ,

Trace window - With the control panel showing, select the "View" menu option, then "Trace". Once the Trace window is displayed I believe the messages you want will be located on the "Error" tab.

You took the backup and tried to restore it, getting an error message in response. Have you tried to take another backup of the main database and restore that backup?

          Hello ,
I think part of my problem I started a new table and saved it in to a different drive than the original database were stored. I wonder if I could move all the files into one location would resolve the problem?

Thank you for all the help, I think you mean to start a new database and make sure it's in one location.

              Hi Sami,

No need to rebuild your database.

Copy the tables and associated files from the folder where the the files are not being backed up from to the correct folder. Then use the Green plus on the menu bar to add the tables to the application.

                Hi Keith,
thank you for the response as you can see I am a beginner I only could go from point a to point b if something goes wrong. I start from A again.

I have a question about the Postal Service and alpha five V 8.
Is A5 certified with the postal office if I use the function that check the address and correct it to nine digit ZIP code?? If I print the bar code also on my labels.

                Thanks again. ~Sami

It is best to ask a new question in a new thread. Other members can follow better what is being asked in each thread and how it was resolved.

To answer you here, I dont know, sorry.
