Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Multiple Selection In An Xdialog Keylist_build

    Hi Guys,
    I need help modifying the code shown below so that I can make multiple selections in the xdialog box when the records in the table is displayed.
    The code is from the Learning Xdialog lesson 10 created/updated by Selwyn.
    The Client table where the record is coming from is part of Alpha sport.
    I made some minor changes to the codes to suite my needs but I am having difficulty to modify the codes so that I can make multiple selections from the displayed table records. Please help. Thanks.

    DIM SHOWREC as C
    DIM SHOWREC_rl_def as C

    SHOWREC_rl_def = "kl=clients {keylist_build('h=.05,1:25[Name],2:25[Phone],3:25[City]',customer_id,alltrim(firstname)+' '+lastname, phone, city)}"
    dim flagOK as l
    flagOK = .f.
    ui_dlg_box("Print Mail Label",<<%dlg%
    Preview mail labels for which customer?;
    {font=Arial,10}
    {frame=1,1}
    {region}
    [%@SHOWREC_rl_def%.93,40SHOWREC];
    {endregion};
    {lf};
    <Preview!ok> <Cancel>
    %dlg%,<<%code%
    if a_dlg_button = "ok" then
    flagOK = .t.
    end if
    %code%)

    if flagOK = .t. then
    filter_expression = "customer_id = '"+key+"'"
    label.Preview("mail_labels",filter_expression)
    end if

    Re: Multiple Selection In An Xdialog Keylist_build

    Rawlings,
    Check out the xdialog genie---have it build a check box list box for you and check out the code behind it--help file can extend the knowledge regarding how it is put together. You can also specify how you wish to populate the box--looks like via an expression in your case.

    Simply out of time really right now--would have to basically learn as I went and showed you how I would do so...

    Good luck

    And if you do get stuck or are still stuck later, either I or someone even more proficient should be along to give more specific help....just getting too late here now.
    Mike

      Re: Multiple Selection In An Xdialog Keylist_build

      I don't know that there is the ability to convert a keylistbuild into a multi select. The directive for multiselect is %m%, but I don't and couldn't figure out how to add this to the key list dialog. I'm just a newbe at xdialog but was able to come up with this that might give you the multiselect capabilities in conjunction with a keylist build list box. This was written to work within Alphasport. I have no clue about the "destroy" error upon leaving the label preview.

      Code:
      dim vcycle as N=1
      DIM SHARED vcid as C=""
      DIM SHARED varC_result as C
      dim vcustid_chosen as C=""
      dim vselected as C = ""
      dim vfn as C
      dim vln as C
      dim flagOK as l
      DIM vcid_rl_def as C
      vcid_rl_def = "kl=customer,{keylist_build(\"H=.05,1:25[Customer_Id],2:25[Firstname],3:25[Lastname]\",''+Customer_id,left(''+Customer_id,25),left(''+Firstname,25),left(''+Lastname,25))}{}"
      varC_result = ui_dlg_box("Labels",<<%dlg%
      {background=#135,185,155}
      {font=Arial,12,b}
      {region}
      Customers:                                           Selected Customers:
      {endregion};
      {region}{font=Arial,10}
      [%@vcid_rl_def%.40,30vcid!newd_*] | [.40,30vselected^#vselected];
      {endregion};
      {line=1,0};
      {region}
      <*15OK> <15CANCEL>
      {endregion};
      %dlg%,<<%code%
