Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Can I print every invoice as a new pdf with invoice number as file name?

    What would be the easiest way to create a pdf of all or select group of invoices and have it create a new pdf for each one and name the pdf with the invoice number.
    Right now we just print a date range of invoices and print and send them. But i want to be able to email individual ones to email to customers and for them to be in a folder on the network for any employee to be able to grab it and send it on the fly.

      How do you want to indicate the invoices you want to print? A query/filter?

      In AlphaSports this saves to c:\temp an invoice in pdf format for each invoice where the invoice_header date month is July (7).

      Code:
      inv_list = table.external_record_content_get("invoice_header","alltrim(invoice_number)","invoice_number","month(date) = [COLOR="#FF8C00"]7[/COLOR]")
      invcs = w_count(inv_list,crlf())
      for qx = 1 to invcs
      	report.SaveAs("Invoice","[COLOR="#0000CD"]PDF[/COLOR]","invoice_number = "+quote(word(inv_list,qx,crlf())),"","[COLOR="#FF0000"]c:\temp[/COLOR]"+chr(92)+"Inv_"+word(inv_list,qx,crlf())+".pdf")
      next qx
      The invoice is saved in the format Inv_000029.pdf.

            My example uses a filter.

              Thats really neat Stan.
              To automatically generate the invoice behind the scenes helps me with a problem I was working on.
              But what I want to know is how you read the question, thought over it, wrote a script and posted a working reply in 12 minutes flat?

                Practice.

                Devin,

                If you want some specific help you are going to have to provide more details and possibly a sample of your database.

                Lets say we start with a filter
                Advising how to use what I gave you for a sample would require table names, field names, the invoice report name, the path where you want to save the pdf files, and at least a description of what your filter should do.

                  He must Have been having a slow day. ;-)

                  EDIT: Rereading my post it comes across as he did not have much else to do. What I meant was he took longer than he usually does.

                      And here I'm wondering how Stan was able to write 19077 posts in one day.

                      Boy am I off base of the question..
