Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Email Fonts

How can I set my font in alpha4v8 for a letter.ltr I wrote to my cleints so that when I e-mail it out through outlook Express it goes out in Currier or Arial font? It now on it's own goes out in "New Times Roman".

I know I can do it manually in the Outlook Express program by blocking and changing the font of the text but I must have it automatic. It now comes on it's own will go out in "imes New Roman"

I tried changing the external mail print driver but then the whole proceedure refused to work. I need some way to get the font to one of the two Currier or Arial and it must be done auntomatically.

VERY IMPORTANT to my business and I am totally stumped.

When the email client screen pops up, select the contents of the letter and change the font.

RE: Em to manny e-mails to change them onail Fonts

        Bill,

Why not find out the filename of the Times New Roman font on your PC, and re-name your Arial/Courier font to that name? That way, Windows thinks it's using TNR but the output would be Arial/Courier.
I've not tried it myself but I did once successfully use a similar workaround with an old DTP program.
Of course the change would impact any other programs which use the same font. It's not really a "fix" but may fill the gap until you discover the real cure...

        Regards

RE: Em to manny e-mails to change them onail Fonts

Paul that is a great idea. I will try it and let you know,. recently I called the Alpha compnay to ask them how to get field information into the subject line. They said it was not possible but I knew they gave me a quick answer so I tried a few tricks and what I found would do it was making the field a calculated field in a letter and the e-mail picks up the field perfectly in the subject line.

          Thanks for your help.

              RE: Email Fonts

Alpha emailed me several months ago stating that they would fix this problem and also send me a patch that would prevent the subject line text defaulting to lower case which looks unprofessional. Still waiting. We send hundreds of emails and as they are invoices they must be in a Courier and 10 font. The time wasted in selecting and changing each and every email has been horrendous and we are looking at alternatives, as Alpha seem to be neglecting A4. ANY help would be appreciated

                RE: Email Fonts

I must agree. It cannot be that hard to write the program that will make the subject go to upper case and allow us to have the font in courier. A4 also states how to change the font so I can see that they are well aware of the problem. Common guys fix this.

                  RE: Email Fonts

Where does the e-mail pickup the New times font? Does it get it from the E-Mail program or from the A4 program?

The reason I ask is that some one suggested to change the name of the font from courier to New Times so that couier would become the default?
