Anyone able to point me toward reviews that will compare A5v6 features against other popular RAD RDBMS software? (Especially any experienced Softvelocity "Clarion" users able to draw product comparisons?)

The On Computers column has been running continuously for 24 years. It is one of the largest circulation computer columns in the world and appears each week in 17 newspapers and news services in the U.S. and nine other countries. Readership is 10-12 million.

Fyi I have not seen it yet, but the reviewer to PC Today (who also reviews dbms products for Inforworld) told me this weekend that in a database roundup - Alpha Five version 6 was just rated 9.2 which was the #1 rating! Other products in the roundup included MS Access.
He was not sure which issue it will be released but he is expecting the review to appear in the coming weeks.
Also now that we are getting reviews that recognize version 6's strengths relative to our major competitors Access and Filemaker - we are interested in reaching out to additional developers and users from those and other dbms communities to consider joing the Alpha community.
If anyone reading this message has some interesting/creative ideas in terms of "spreading the word" in a cost effective fashion, please email me at richard@alphasoftware. I would be happy to read these ideas or call you back if you leave your phone number and good times to reach you.
Thanks

Alpha Five Update Builds Better Apps
By Michael Caton
August 9, 2004
While it is certainly easy to just accept and run the database application that is sitting on most Windows-based PCs, Alpha Software's Alpha Five Version 6 gives companies a great alternative for a workgroup-based database application.
Version 6 of Alpha Five began shipping at the end of last month for $1,499 for a five-user license. I liked the way this new version extends programming capabilities for building more complex, automated applications using Xbasic, Active Scripting and ActiveX.
It's also easier to share these applications over the Web via the optional new $699 Alpha Web application server. With the application server added, this version is more akin to FileMaker's FileMaker 7 and Server 7only more extensible.
Alpha Five now supports object-level security, allowing me to change access rights for individuals and groups down to the table level. Furthermore, the database has good integration points with SQL databases via ADO (ActiveX Database Object) and the Alpha Five Xdialog control, which uses a wizard to quickly guide users through creating a connection.
Alpha Five has several additions that take the pain out of managing a database application. There's a nice tool for deleting duplicate records, and publishing to the Web is straightforward. Alpha Five manages the Web application server, so we found it easy to stop and start an application as needed.
