Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Thanks To Alpha

I just wanted to post a Thank You message to Richard, Selwyn & the Alpha Software group for the training they sponsored in Las Vegas this past week, it was very informative and I learned a lot from Steve Workings, James Talbott, & Steve Wood, they all knew the A5V10 Web Design well. Once again Thank You.

    Kerry

Appreciate you taking the time to make this comment.

Theresa Johnston from Alpha who managed the event came back from Las Vegas in good spirits echoing your comments that the week was a great success and has indicated that the surveys of attendees showed that people learn a lot and enjoyed the week.

Thank you to everyone who attended.

I would like to publicly thank Selwyn for his personal and immediate assistance to every bug report I make, this is greatly appreciated and unprecedented in any other software out there, (really priceless)

I know he has a bullseye in his office with my face on it, but he stills keeps solving my bug reports :)

        Thank you very much
        Cheers

I would like to thank the folks at Alpha Software for resetting my activation about 100 times! I'll bet I hold the record for that.

As a VERY new user, I echo the praise! Steve Workings -- all it took was to restore localhost to default to solve Live Preview problem.

That's great news Thornton. I'll suggest you write a note about your problem and solution in the V10 web section in case others run into the same issue. Glad you got it resolved, wish we'd figured it out earlier.

                      Re: Thanks To Alpha

The Vegas Alpha U was a great experience. Steve, Steve and Jay did a great job of training, and the networking experience with all of the attendees was an added benefit.

There were lots of "Wow", "that's amazing!", "I didn't know you could do that", and "this will make my life much better" comments around the room for five days . . . and that didn't include the ones when Theresa tossed an errant hotel staffer over the hand rail a time or two.

Thanks to Richard, Selwyn, Theresa, Martin and the rest of the Alpha staff, and to Steve Workings, Steve Wood and Jay Talbott for a job well done!

anyone got the solution to this - popped up out of the blue in 10.5! where do I restore localhost?

                            Pete,

What does Thornton mean by 'restore localhost to default'
What did popup in 10.5 out of the blue ? I tested all RC up to 5 but did not notice anything with live preview. Do you have a screenshot?

Thornton was in the AlphaU class, and could get preview and working preview, but no live preview nor published pages from the localhost. I'm responding here because I don't think Thornton is a frequent visitor to this board.

He concluded that it had to do with the localhost setup in Vista. I don't know the particulars of his solution, but with a little googling of "localhost" and "vista" anyone with a similar problem can find some help on the way to their solution.
