As part of our continuing efforts to make sure Alpha Anywhere is as current with modern-day technologies as possible, we are deprecating support for Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) web services in Alpha Anywhere. Effective September 1, 2022, support for WCF and SOAP services is deprecated. Effective January 1, 2023, WCF and SOAP service support ends. WCF and SOAP support will be removed in future releases of the product, at which point WCF and SOAP services will no longer work.

SOAP has been deprecated by most vendors, including Microsoft. These vendors have replaced SOAP with RESTful services, and, in some cases, OData V4.

WCF has also been deprecated by Microsoft, and it is not supported natively in .NET Core (now known as .NET 6 and soon .NET 7).

If your application depends on SOAP or WCF services, contact your vendor immediately for instructions on connecting using a RESTful service and convert your applications to use RESTful service APIs.
