Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

REPLACEMENT FOR WIKI DOCUMENTATION - FREE HOSTING Offer

I have lost too much time with the Alpha Wiki trying to find information. With the release of V11, this is going to be even worse due to all of the new features in V11 and the upcoming .Net integration. I fear it is going to be a nightmare.

I am offering FREE hosting on an A5 Server in my Data Center. If someone or a group wants to try a solution that they think can help other programmers be more productive, I will offer FREE Web Hosting. Right now the server has A5V11 and A5V10.5 running. If you would need Apache or IIS, not a problem. I have a 100 gig Dropbox Account on that server for data transfers.

The server is a new Dell T310 server with a XEON Processor, 12 Gigs Memory and 500 Gig Raid 0 with SAS hard drives just waiting for the right app. I also have a new Dell Server on order from Dell with Dual XEON Processors, 16 Gig memory, 2 Hot Swap - 1TB RAID 0 hard drives, redundant power supplies and dual 1 gig Network Adapters. I should have it up and running by the middle of next month.

I have a 100 meg down pipe with a 25 meg up pipe just waiting to be fully utilized.

I don't know if this mesaage will be removed because I am so flagrantly opposing what Apha feels is a feature, but I have to take a stand.

Also, if anyone is interested, Dell is offering 33% or their Dell Poweredge Servers. The Dell T410 I just ordered started out at almost $3,300, but after the 33% off, plus full discount on 2nd processor, the cost was under $2000. Hurry the offer ends 10/21/2011. See below for details:

Save 33% off select* PowerEdge Tower Servers priced $799 or more before taxes and fees. Enter coupon* code 7GV42XFL7MRWC0 at check out.

    Coupon code* 7GV42XFL7MRWC0
One coupon per customer. One time use only. Non-transferable. Offers not combinable with other offers, discounts or coupons. Limit of 3 promotional items per customer. Offer limited to PowerEdge T110II, T310, T410 & T610 Tower Servers priced $799 or more before taxes and fees. Offer valid 10/17 10/21 at 11:59pm CT.

Steve, while my Fridays are very busy, I will make every attempt to attend. This is too important to miss.

BTW, anyone who needs a jump start on their web development, I HIGHLY recommend Steve's frameworks. They will save you many hours of work and present you with a professional, functional, easy to use database driven website.

When a potential client wants to see a mock up quickly, using Steve's framework will give you a starting point that will allow you to present your application quickly, and get that potential client to sign on the dotted line and become a satisfied client.

I don't know how many people have purchased his framework, but if you google "index.a5w", you will see many sites that look somewhat alike, even though they have different information. That's because they use Steve's framework as a starting point.

response replacement for the wiki [ see topsite messagboard]

Your offer is fine but again waiting for a documentation solution?. I myself am quite happy but it can always improve. The reason for documenting time-consuming and costly. So before this solution is available, you go back two years. The wiki is the property of alpha software and should remain as the owner and certainly not a private person in connection with risk of failure. However, the logical consistency such www.ajaxtuto, msg.alpha. wiki. release notes of the various documentation issues may improve. As I said I'll see improvement over V9/10 V11 and now as a plus.
Let see what the outcome is from the meeting as Steve Woord today.
