Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Is your subscription package complete / up to date ?

As a new subscription member, I'm "disappointed" that there is not a quick reference document somewhere broken down into categories listing all the available downloads for subscription purchasers. The promise was "every product, add-on, book, video and feature pack for Alpha Five version 10.5 and version 11 when it's released." Yes the core applications have a "check with the website" option which does keep you informed / up to date on the applications. Yes I found the 10.5 and 11 Feature Pack pages (unfortunately not every item listed in the 10.5 table states clearly if it's included with 11 or works with 11)

Wouldn't it make sense to have a central document maintained showing the above categories and all available items for each category (per version) along with a download link for each item? Something like:
    V10.5 downloads for subscription purchasers
    Products
    Product 1 (link)
    Product 2 (link)
    Add-Ons
    Add on 1 (link)
    Add on 2 (link)
    Books
    Book 1 (link)
    Book 2 (link)
    Videos
    Video 1 (link)
    Video 2 (link)
    Feature packs
    Feature pack 1 (link)
    Feature pack 2 (link)

Maybe even one link for those who want to download everything new again ?

The promise of getting everything for "free" is a wonderful thing, but the experience of finding it and ensuring you are up to date should be short and sweet so that you can spend the majority of your time utilizing it to enhance your applications. This has not been my experience to date unfortunately.

Wondering if I've missed the boat on something or if possibly others are just as frustrated ?

A single page showing all items available, and where to download, to subscribers would be most appreciated.

I agree, that would be a big help. Just yesterday I was wading through my multiple alpha emails w. various FPs & "subscriber benefit" license nos trying to sort them all out. It's getting pretty hairy.

Knowing that Alpha Software has a database with our purchases,
and that most of us have a username and password that could be
used to access our purchase history, I would expect a solution would
                be rather simple.
Until that happens, for what it's worth, I began keeping a record of my purchases/serial numbers.
Hopefully, if I don't have all the featurepacks listed, someone will let me know.

Now if they only had a way to make that database accesible via the Internet...

I can't tell you what feature packs you should or should not have, but for a list of all feature packs available in any version, and whether there are not installed, enabled or disabled, run my free CSDA DiagInfo Utility for a list.

Note that it may provide feature pack entries that are not being sold yet or are in development, but nevertheless at least seem to be present.

What English do you speak? Between South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada and the US, I don't have a clue what english anyone speaks on this board!!

We're just one board separated by a common language!

As a subscriber, why should I have different serial numbers at all? My subscriber serial should make it possible for me to open all components without having to look for additional serials all the time... everything is in there so there should be "one serial to rule them all" for subscribers.
