Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Thanks for your vote of confidence, Keith. But I have to tell you, as a Boston based company for many many years, for the most part our best employees came from the mid-west, although there were notable exceptions to that experience.

Having grown up mostly in the mid west and then moved to California, I can say without a doubt, as a rule of thumb, the Midwest folks out performed their counterparts in California due to better education and work ethic. Like peter says, there are exceptions but most Midwest folks usually have no or little problem finding a job.

That said, It seems to be more common than not that when a company lists an email address in the 'Contact Us' section, by far most of those emails go unanswered. Usually most software companies do answer but those that do, all have an automatic response that your response will be answered within 'X' days or hours. Even some of those do not answer. Personally, with Alpha, some of my emails to marketing have been answered in a timely manner and some not answered. I suppose one could attribute some of it to growing pains and Alpha has and still is in the growing pain stage. No doubt some email may end up in the 'fish tank'. The way for any company to avoid that is to ask senders to put certain words into the Subject box so the incoming can be filtered to specific folders. I have sent emails where prior to sending, I had to make a couple of choices and no doubt, that was a way which was used to filter the incoming.

I would imagine Alpha, being what it is, could also generate a report which lists all unopened as well as all unanswered email showing the date received, the sender and the subject. All that said, I do think Alpha has gotten better at answering email. However, the bottom line; there is no excuse for not answering an email inquiry.

Re: Alpha Software, please answer your emails.

I have dealt with many many people from all over America and several other countries. I love New Yorkers because as hard as they are to deal with, their word is good! Most of the states in the midwest are good to deal with(talking about the people), same with the south, way out west(like Ca) not too good, same with new england.

Understand that I have met some GREAT people from every state we have and beyond. I am just averaging. I have also met some not so desireables from the same.

Some years ago, I walked into an office for a pretty large company in Boston. I was very slowly met by a young woman behind a desk that was preoccupied with polishing her finger nails. Now she really did need all the help she could get, but at work? The whole demeanor in the office was one of "who cares" and I will get around to it when I want. Had a similar experience in New Jersey.

From this and other experiences through the years, I can imagine employees that are like that and worse - the boss does not know.
