Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Alpha Five v11 Javascript actions builder

Saw a video on Alpha Five v11 Javascript actions that demonstrated a new builder available in the properties area of the dialog component, looks nice and useful, but even thought I have the latest version, well it is not available under my properties for dialog components as demonstrated in the video. Anyone knows what happened here?

    Thanks,
    Juan

Are you on the subscription plan? I know some things are dependent on that.

This is the reason why I posted a few weeks ago a question on how did I know if I had everything I was entitled to installed!!!

Thank You guys will contact Alpha...

            -

Well that does it, customer service does not know what subscription feature pack I'm missing, they just asked me to ask you guys on what feature pack is this functionality supposed to be at. I just asked then to send me an email with all my license numbers. This is frustrating, they need a better system to keep track of it all.

Subscriber Benefits - not a feature pack, but installed just like a Feature pack.

just checked mine, I only have 15! Set me thinking what am I missing. Clicked the 'see list of available feature packs' link and it only mentions 5 all of which I have. Better get an email off to them myself

Sorry if I mislead you guys, did a double check and the correct count is 16, had 5 duplicates, in other words I was missing 10. Per Alpha's email, we subscribers should have a total of 16 feature packs, here is the list they sent me.

                    1. Google Map Component Feature Pack:
                    2. Image Gallery Component Feature Pack:
                    3. Video Gallery Component Feature Pack:
                    4. Calendar Component Feature Pack:
                    5. Proximity Search Control for Grids
                    6. Live Linking Embedded Grids
                    7. Search and Navigation for Dialog Components
                    8. Slider Control for Dialog Components
                    9. Embedded Calendar for Dialog Components
                    10. Power Search in Grids for Dialog Components
                    11. Dialog Component - Power Search for Embedded Report
                    12. Dialog - Advanced Tab Object
                    13. Subscriber Benefits
                    14. Embedded List View Control
                    15. Dialog Component Map Control
                    16. Dialog Component - Chart Control

                    Hope this helps,
                    Juan

Only thing to do is call or email Alpha. Maybe if their sales people keep getting enough calls and emails asking, they'll do a better job giving more cumulative lists and licenses to subscribers...

                          Robert,

You got my curiosity up and I started to play with the embedded list view.

It seems to be a way of showing child records, ie a non editable repeating section.

The brick wall I am hitting is the Argument Binding, I cannot find a way to set an argument value to that of a control on the dialog the way it describes in the filter help.

                            Hi Lance

Thanks for the update, a couple of questions
                            1. Is this feature part of the subscribe package
                            2. Where is it located.

The reason for the questions, I can't find any reference to this feature in the wiki or anywhere else so wondered why Juan had it on his list

                            Thanks Lance
                            Robert

                              Hi Robert,

I cannot find any reference to it at all as well.

It has not come from the usual 'Here are your new license numbers' email. I got the full list by emailing sales the same way as Juan did and got a list of 16 feature packs, I originally had 15. The embedded list control was the one that I was missing. I somehow think this maybe a work in progress and that we should not have it yet. Usually Selwyn will do a few videos about anything new and we would get an announcement from Richard on the forum, linkedIn etc.

If you do get the license no from sales, put it in the feature pack menu in the usual way and then next time you edit a dialog you will have a list control available under dialog controls. Must say it looks pretty complex, but still playing with it.
