Re: So Cal Alpha Software Users Group?
Glad to find my member's list actually has some value! On User Groups, I have always thought I could help coordinate these through IADN, since that entity is dedicated to Independent Developers, and we need to hang out together sometime.
To help with this, I am adding "Your Local Users Group" as a dropdown to the IADN MyAccount page. This will let members find and assign themselves to a local group. Anyone with an established Users Group can add their group to the list. IADN Members would be able to login and see their group information including meeting times, announcements and limited information on the members of that group. An Admin for each User Group would be able to send out announcements or invite anyone within some radius go join. When a new user signs up at IADN, I would include a list of the User Group(s) within a hundred mile radius. And I would list the User Groups on the IADN website.
To make it sound more like part of an evil plan -- I would tie it all in to the Developers Conference discussed elsewhere on this forum. The Developers Conference is to discuss worldwide and regional issues, the User Groups would be the "local" entity that can execute recommendations at a local level. In this context, your Local Users Group is not necessarily something you absolutely have to attend physically in order to benefit or make an impact.
It looks as though we are getting responses now, thanks.
