Free or Low Cost DB Manager app for SQLite?

The more I use SQLite the more convinced I am it will be my default or database of choice. It appears to be a solid solution for desktop and web as well as mobile (not currently my area of interest). I would like to find a decent low cost of open source application. I wondered if anyone here had any recommendations?

Tom - I thought it was a general question. It can be used with Alpha 5 both web and desktop and was not a design question so I placed it here.

I have looked at some of those sites too many choices so I was looking for recommendations to narrow the field. I thought it was worth a shot at seeing if someone here had one.

I downloaded sqlite, installed and manage it with Firefox. There is a tool to download for that. Used google search to find it. "sqlite manager"

What are your objectives for using sqlite as opposed to DBF
Is it to have SQL as the database of choice for all applications or a particular requirement or aspect of things?
What would be an advantage for you?

Personally, I am not sure that it is valid for the Alpha desktop, but I am intrigued to find out now.

Sqlite can be used for mobile devices.

My interest is to have a simple to deploy SQL database that will support trigger and stored procedures. SQLite caught my interest because it is serverless; all that's needed to deploy is a .dll. If it meets my requirements it would be truly cross platform. For those moving to development for mobile platforms it can sit on any device regardless of OS.

If it doesn't meet my requirements there are a couple of other options I will look at, but they may not be as well suited to multi-OS deployment. The other options will be Firebird and SQLServer CE.

Simplicity in a database engine can be either a strength or a weakness, depending on what you are trying to do. In order to achieve simplicity, SQLite has had to sacrifice other characteristics that some people find useful, such as high concurrency, fine-grained access control, a rich set of built-in functions, stored procedures, esoteric SQL language features, XML and/or Java extensions, tera- or peta-byte scalability, and so forth. If you need some of these features and do not mind the added complexity that they bring, then SQLite is probably not the database for you. SQLite is not intended to be an enterprise database engine. It is not designed to compete with Oracle or PostgreSQL.

Thanks for the added information, perhaps I need to refocus back to Firebird. It runs on all Linux and Windows and comes in an embedded form. I am looking for simpler deployment than SQLServer or MySql. Firebird in the embedded form or SQL CE may be the solution. Obviously I need to give this more thought.

I wonder if it would make sense for Alpha to package a SQL database with Alpha 5, similar to the DBF? I know everyone has their own flavor they like, and could still use, but for a certain group of user/developer (i.e. less technically and programming oriented) it would be one less variable to deal with and perhaps make for tighter and more consistent integration. Does that even make sense?

Tom - Great Idea! I think it does make sense and there are any number of open source databases they could probably choose from and incorporate into A5 at a minimal expense to them. I suspect it would also improve the level of support forum members could give each other.
