Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

removing A5 when control panel says it's not there

I bought a new PC and need to remove v11 to be license compliant but I don't see it in my list of installed programs in XP.

I also want to know if there is a way to transfer a license to my new PC.

I called Alpha on Oct 30 and left a voice mail about this but still no response.

I know they won't respond to email, tried that 2 or 3 times last year and got no response either.

Jay, you have a couple of options, and you have two allowed instances covered by one license. (one intended for desktop, one for a laptop in case you were not aware)

    1) Rename the new PC the same as the old one. Load Alpha, and it will allow you to register under the same computer name. This means that if you are networking, you cannot have both running at the same time on the same network. It also means that if you have 10 PC's all with the same name, you can use the same license number. Just screws the network access.
    2) Email [email protected] and he will put you in touch with one of the techie guys who will remove the name of the old computer from their registration server. Then you will be able to load and register using your original license number.

If you have to get loaded on the new PC, use the old name for the new one and all will be well Alpha wise. Beware the network issue.
If you need to change the name later, you will need a slot on the AS licensing server. As they are in the process of changing servers, it might be a bit fraught their end as they have had some issues to resolve.
Once registered, look in the Roaming folder for the activation code and make a note of it. This saves you re-registering if you have to unload and reload for any reason.

I have the 2nd license installed on a netbook, I'm removing the 1st license to move to a new laptop.
I'll try emailing Richard, I've always been able to get a response from him.

Just rename the new machine the same as the old and it will work after installation,
