Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        This looks really amazing Jim.

        Can you please clarify:

Is this meant as a replacement/improvement for A5JQ calendar? ie) can I go from A5JQCalendar to DHX retaining the same database table?

Which DHX license is the minimum required, dhtmlxScheduler?

        Thanks,
        Stephen

It is meant as an alternative to Web2Cal and A5Jqcalender. All three have their own pros and cons.

I plan on continuing support for A5Jqcalendar. I have a lot of developers using it so I continue to issue updates, as needed, to keep it current with the latest Alpha version.

Yes, this scheduler can, technically, use your existing A5Jqcalender table, providing it is set up with date-time fields for start time and end time. This scheduler does not support separate date and time fields as the A5Jqcalendar does. Recurring events are handled very differently and there are some of the fields have no meaning with this scheduler. I would suggest creating a new table and importing the events into it.

You "may" need to buy a dhtmlxScheduler license. The license terms for the dhtmlxScheduler libraries are not under my control. They have three models at present; GPL, Commercial, and Enterprise. Which license you need to purchase, if any, is based on how you use the scheduler. There are options for free (GPL), one commercial project (application), and unlimited commercial projects. I believe if you're building a scheduler for your own use you can use the free version. If you're selling the application, or making it available to others, then you need one of the commercial licenses, or you must adhere to the GPL (GNU V2) license terms. Note that their current license model is based on applications, not servers, and is a perpetual license. Personally, I find their license terms, and pricing, to be very good, especially when considering what they have built and how they support it.

You might need multi page view for your apps by example a medical clinic with group agenda then you need to buy the enterprise edition $799.00 as it is not available in the free /pro [GPL} edition.
              Thanks Jim good Job!

All of the views are available in the V4.3 Commercial and Enterprise editions.

Just to clarify, the only difference between Commercial and Enterprise editions is the ability to have more than one scheduler on the same html page. Meaning you can load several different schedulers in a tabbed_ui, and so on, as each is housed in its own iFrame. Here's a quick video of several running in a tabbed_UI. Some are using V4.2 GPL and some V4.3 Commercial versions of the dhtmlxScheduler libraries.

Starting with the 4.3 version of the dhtmlxScheduler libraries several of the views are only available in the non-GPL versions. You can, however, use the 4.2 version dhtmlxScheduler libraries that do include all the views. They provide a link to all the current and previous releases on Git, and my builder supports V4.2 or V4.3 of the dhtmlxScheduler libraries.
