Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    This new Forum layout.

Is it supposed to be responsive?
On my Tablet I get an oversized panel. It's resizable, but when you skip between articles, it presents as oversized.
Desktop is ok but that's huge by comparison.
    See our Hybrid Option here;

Apologies to anyone I haven't managed to upset yet.
You are held in a queue and I will get to you soon.

Not sure how responsive it is supposed to be, but it is not very. Maybe after some adjustments, it will get better. Looks like it may not be PHP, but in MS coding. TOO bad if true

Can you provide an example of the issues that you are encountering? What do you mean by an "oversized panel?"
I have checked on an iPad and iPhone and am not seeing issues so I could use more detail.

We are making some updates to the layout and I'd love to get your feedback.

The bleached white background is hard on the eyes - and I'm someone who generally prefers a light background.

The new board wouldn't let me upload an image a few minutes ago. I miss the old format.

Was there something wrong with the old Message Board. Was it broken? Was there a problem? Did it not have functionality that was needed/critical to move forward. I'm with Peter, the blazing white is hard on my eyes, and there is a lot of it because I agree with Ted, since everything is now bigger, there will be much more scrolling to be done to view even single posts. On my laptop,
this 5 response thread is 5 full scrolls to 5 separate screens to show the whole thread. Gosh how I hate having to scroll through empty space and oversized fonts and objects!

And there is clearly a problem because my post when written did not wrap after the word "laptop" in the compose box but did in the view panel.

On my laptop at home, have tried 2 different laptops, and my phone I am getting Error 403 - Forbidden message. Can get on by remoting into office and using chrome on my desktop PC. Must say I do not like the new layout

One of the things I really liked about the old forum was I could get in, quickly find anything that was interesting to me, read it and get out. This takes a lot of studying. Also, I liked seeing the old posts in case I wasn't on this forum 24/7. Is there a place for perferences so I can eliminate the stuff I know I'm not interested in?
This is sorta like Microsoft where every improvement makes avery tasks 3 or 4 more steps....

I hate changes to things I liked the way they were. I lost all but 2 folders I created for saving certain posts. OTOH, the tabs at the top were be more useful if a link to the Wiki were included.

It would be nice if developers asked their users for input before creating tools they don't have to use...

It seems much slower than the old message board to me.

And I agree with other comments that the stark white background is rather harsh on the eyes.

That's why you save threads/posts to your own computer using the save page option of the browser.

You get a file with the page to view and a folder with all of the supporting files to view that page as it was when it was saved.

Perhaps there could be an option to use the old or new format? The data should be the same.
Softening the bright white background would be an improvement.
                            The old format is better.
