Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    create a blog with alpha

I seem to remember a blogpost about creating a web blog with Alpha, could have been a video as well. It was a pretty detailed story possibly with downloadable sample components & pages.

    I can't find it anymore...

Anyone remembers where to find that article / video ?

    Thx

    Hi Frank,

I don't remember that and think I would.

I use easyblog for the reason it allows for posting to facebook and half dozen others quickly and semi-automatic.

Have about 8 different blogs seup now, either for me or others. You can put it together so it looks like your site and works almost(not quite) seamless.

I would recommend to use static pages for blogs. It seems to be current trend. There are several command line tools available.
If you need word wide blog then you can use CDN to publish for example PubStorm (free-5$) so performance is excellent from every country. If you not need CDN performance then you can use for example Hetzners hosting plan 1 (1,90) because you do not need database. For submit data you can also use Hetzners plan 1.If you need database you can use SQLite.
You can get free SSL for both.

I like free. where you install a blog app that is stand alone. The suppliers have already done the main work so you don't have to spend all those hours of work duplicating. advantage is more ability with less time spent.
WordPress and joomla will both give a great blog spot.
I use joomla and he is one I use for some election stuff. I allow people to register here and create their own post. Now, the best part is at the bottom where they or anyone can share that blog to FB, twitter, linkedin or others. IT keeps count of hits and other stuff as well. Joomla is free Easyblog has a free edition and there are other blog add-ons as well.
create a menu item to go to the blog and one back to you site as you need.
Take a look Don't mind the posts.

Joomla in quite heavy for blogs. And you have to update it all the time to keep it secure.
There are many free static site generats available and you do not need use any server side language with static pages they generate.

              Ken,
YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT. I just already have Joomla running on many sites and supply a blog for a lot of them.
I liked b2evolution blog and it has gotten much better now. IT was excellent back then as well.
WordPress, Open Blog, Serendipity, Dotclear, LifeType, Nucleus, eggBlog are some others.

ADvantage to JOomla or Wordpress is the ability to easily make the blog page look more like your own.

I personally use Harp.js to create static web pages . AA server can serve static html pages so no competition with these two.
In fact you can start Harp.js server directly from AA if you want or serve static web pages generated by Harp.js. Its all about Nodejs again.
