This is to clarify a point about the feature in QReportBuilder which allows you to use the product WITHOUT having QuickBooks running on the machine.

QReportBuilder talks to QuickBooks to obtain the information you need for your reports. But as a convenience, we have pre-loaded QReportBuilder with sample data tables from the QuickBooks sample files so you can try and test some things in QReportBuilder without requiring QuickBooks on that machine.

There are two types of data we obtain from QuickBooks: data tables and pre-configured reports.

The sample data is made up of data tables - such as lists of customers and invoices, and this is what you can use for testing without QuickBooks installed.

The pre-configured reports (such as trial balance or sales report) require QuickBooks to be running to operate because they are actually reports run by QuickBooks with the result being delivered to QReportBuilder, and they often require parameters (such as a date range) to operate.

So to be clear, QReportBuilder can run without QuickBooks, but only on the sample tables which are pre-filled with data, not the pre-configured reports which require data from QuickBooks to operate.
