Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Qb Odbc Stopped Working

Enterprise version of QB 11 the ODBC driver is updating a passive link table in Alpha of invoice line items based on a SQL statement, the SQL statement has a Greater then Date e.g. date > 01012010.

It stopped working? It stops at January 1, 2011 last records in?
Any ideas? I checked there are records after that date.

Find the *.opt files in a hidden directory for QODBC - usually under the My Documents folder.

This is an optimizer table that QODBC uses and can get corrupted (rarely).

Each company file has an .opt file that can be deleted and will automagically get rebuilt.

Let me know if that solves the problem.

The file can't have it's location changed - delete and let QODBC rebuild instead.

      date > 01012010
and this date format worked? My limited knowledge only knows of 2 formats which are 2011-01-01 and {d'2011-01-01'}. What type of SQL definition is being used--am thinking Native as I have only used Portable and Stored Procedure.

        Al, no opt files?

Have this in the error log:
        2011-03-09 00:32:54 QODBC Ver: 10.00.00.265 *********************************************************************************************************************
        IsAService: False

Begin Session errors can be caused when running ASP or other system service and not setting the "Advanced" button option of either "Use DCOM Servers" or "Remote Connector"

The first time you connect to a QB company file, you must be logged in as the QB admin to allow any application to 'talk' to QB. That's an INTUIT requirement.

Doesn't sound like that has happened yet...

            Re: Qb Odbc Stopped Working

Ok so you asked me to look for opt files NONE.

I just provide it connected to the customer file and did indeed pull new records correctly file count was only 1366.

When I go to pull in from the invoice line file it stops at 383709 records.??? and stops at 1/1/2011???????

Ok why? Any ideas on this, is there a record problem?
Meaning a limit some how? With the driver?

I have got to get this working again, suggestions please...

I thought it was not on the right company, maybe copied etc. not case as proven.

            here is the sql:
            SELECT CustomerRefListID, CustomerRefFullName, TxnDate, RefNumber,
            BillAddressAddr1, InvoiceLineItemRefListID, InvoiceLineItemRefFullName,
            InvoiceLineDesc, InvoiceLineQuantity, InvoiceLineUnitOfMeasure,
InvoiceLineRate, InvoiceLineAmount FROM InvoiceLine WHERE TxnDate >
            {2010-06-01}

            Ok so I changed the select statement to be WHERE TxnDate > {2011-01-01}
it shows 24 records that are 11/12/2016 which are in the data base and should not but are there but will
not show 2011 records that are there and in front of them....????
            IDEAS?

If I remove the where clause and empty the db it still skips the 2011-01-02 and beyond.
I thought it was the number of records so I made the where 2010-11-01 got all records up to 2010-01-01 nothing else and of course 2016 records. I am thinking the driver is confused I am going to have the customer delete and reenter those records with correct date. But what happens if I get the same results? again IDEAS?

              Re: Qb Odbc Stopped Working

              Nicholas,
Unless you have specifically turned off optimization either in the QODBC setup tabbed dialog or in your SQL definition (which you have not), then there should be an *.opt file for each company file you have refreshed (where the * is the project name).

As Al indicated, your symptoms can very well be associated with a corrupt .opt file and is the easiest/fastest possible cause to check out---well, if you can find the .opt file of course!

Checking the QODBC Setup Optimizer tab, mine (as yours also should) indicated the *.opt files should be located at the following pathway.
              %UserProfile%\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\Optimizer

This, in my case, translates to:
              C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\Optimizer
              Mike

                Mike,

Thanks I do not know why the search did not find the opt files?
Anyway thanks for the path on it. Found it and deleted it was quite large 2.8 gig. the customer file is only 1366 records but the invoiceline is like 800,000 I think.

So it is rerunning and 1st time takes quite a while thereafter 10 minutes, so lets see and thanks atleast I am moving forward....

Yes, you need the 11.0.0.277 driver to read QB 2011

What version of QRB do you have? 277 is part of QRB 2011 (ie based on Alpha 10.5)

You should also run the verify of QB data to make sure there is not a problem within the QB company file. QB - File - Utilities - verify data
