Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Just updated to latest pre-release .. 3917.. and just before the update, my dialog worked fine. After, it immediately comes up with:

Error:Script:A5W Code line:84 Array index out of bounds

No changes to code.. just did update.. anyone else have issue???

I'm on 3914 and don't have issues - thanks for the heads up - as they say send in a bug report if you have the time.

Well, I plan to, but wanted to know if it was just me or system wide.. I'm pretty new, so I didn't want to send in a bug report needlessly...

Re: Updated to latest pre-release now dialog won't work

Sent in bug request this morning.

I reinstalled 3903, dialogs work fine. Installed 3917 again, dialogs don't work.

Created a new dialog in 3917, and it works.. so it seems my existing dialogs don't.

Going to try another project I created previously and see... but not sure why it broke.

Re: Updated to latest pre-release now dialog won't work

Ok, i may have found what's causing the problem.
I first copied all the controls into a new dialog, went to working preview: works.
Went to Data Binding, selected my connection, table etc...( in this case it just was 1 table ), checked: works
In the Data Binding, i selected my primary key, set it to auto-increment:--> whamm: i get the same error message
Removing the auto-increment doesnt do anything, it's the primary key setting that makes it go nuts.
Refreshed the data binding again, without the primary key: works again...

Re: Updated to latest pre-release now dialog won't work

No - if you miss these - you miss them, they are not like official releases, so you need to contact alpha or drop back to the last official release. Sorry. No developer could take the responsibly of giving you a zip of he upgrade that may stuff up your system. So ask Alpha, I'm certain they will be receptive to helping you solve the issue. Pete :-)

I have been trying to create a Dialog component and I have the same problem with every Dialog I create. I am running build 3916.

Apparently it is a bug, per development. There is a fix in place for the next pre-release.

Updated to 3919 this morning and it's fixed.

PS: now try to do that with any other development tool...you can watch the sea drying until you get patch updates
