Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Problem activating Application Server

Fifteen days ago I got the Alpha Five V11, Developer and Application Server. Both were installed normally and the Application Server was also activated normally.
Since my computer was very slow I decided to formated it.
I reinstalled Alpha Five V11 Developer normmaly and it was also activated normally.
After I reinstalled the Application Server and I wanted to activate it the following message is displayed:

That license key (xxxxxxxxxxxxx376) has already been activated on another computer. It must be deactivated on that other computer before it can be activated here.

What do I have to make in order to activate the Application Server?

Option B is to give your new computer/server the same name as the one it is replacing.

At Sessions tab I have selected the License Number, Clic on Activate and the mentioned message is displayed.
Could you please make a screen capture ?

I don't know then. Making sure the name is exactly the same has solved the problem each of the many times I've run into it.

                  hello

bill griffin suggestion is correct. when ever you want to change the computer or keep the same computer but erase everything like reformatting
you should deactivate the license before doing anything and once reinstalled reactivate the license. in case you did not do, you can contact the sales and they will deactivate for you and you can
then reactivate your license. it is better to call them. since you are far away and probably inconvenient to call them what you have done is what i would do. just wait for reply.
if you can call they will do it while you are on line.
                  thanks for reading

Many thanks for your effort for help me. You are very kind

                    Many thanks.
As you say, I think so that not deactivating the license before formatting the hard disk produced the problem.
If this occurs on another time I will take this precaution.
Service department has answered my mail and are requesting additional information for solving the problem

unlikely that they would help as quickly as possible.
I realize that my reply is not a helpful, but a frustration post.
It seems that the Customer Svc team has not accepted that the internet is a 24/7 entity and some A5 users/developers had hoped to use A5 on the internet on weekdays AND weekends. If the deactivation process requires Cust Svc intervention each time, then they really need to be available.
After providing my order#, license number, etc., over a week ago I am still unable to activate a WAS license that was properly deactivated on a previous machine.
Apparently Customer Svc will only assist if they speak to you directly over the phone. There needs to be another mechanism; my customer thinks they need another web developer.

What many software vendors do for customers is a 7 day emergency key issue activation. This is technically quite simple to solve and 24 * 7 available via a website by your original order number to type so the problem is solved and you can proceed with your recovery and business back into the air. Why Alpha are not already doing for its customers, I have no idea whether you get more customers may still have time to think about and professional appearance to your customers is definitely good. Besides some corporate types at this time accept no different. I personally have this one time had at hand but was quickly helped also in the weekend so no help is not true.

as of this morning, Sat 6/9 (and last weekend also) Customer service in the USA simply has recorded message Alpha Software is closed, ~~leave message, etc.
Apparently no help on the weekend for USA.

Even with "daddy" having in the neighbourhood of 100 billion bux in the bank, these "guys" are also closed on the weekends for this type of support.

                            Contact FileMaker Support
Registration and activation of FileMaker software (also Installation and configuration)

However, as Eric mentioned, an emergency X-day key activation would certainly be a nice feature :)
