Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Problem activating Application Server

I am completely in agreement with you. It is really frustrating.
I sent them what they requested: license number and computer name, but until now they have done absolutely nothing
to solve my problem, that is more critical since the same problem also occurred with version 10.5

      hello
i do not have this problem but i am just curious. while everybody should defend alphafive, i had recent experience with norton and mcafee software sites where if you have an account then you can login to activate or deactivate your license without any human intervention. with a powerful software such as alphafive why this cannot be done so that people using alphafive don't have to wait for the customer support to come in during the work week. especially they are in different part of the world. if alphafive wants to be a global company and maintain that level, shouldn't they consider something like this?

It should be totally automatic, from a Support page a their website. Enter your credentials and modify your license information online.

          Re: Problem activating Application Server

I had issues with my VPS.My hosting provider had to reset the server. After that I got the deactivate/activate issue. I sent an email to Alpha customer service. Not being able to deactivate/reactivate the license nbr oneself and wait for Alpha to do it is a pain. Good recipe to lose a potential client.

Must thank Alpha Customer service. I call them, talked to James, the service was instantaneous. My client was back in business 5 mnts later. Great service.

As I didn't get any reply to my email, I called customer support (I had to, my client was getting cranky). As I said above, requesting a service by email is a good recipe for losing a client when he is waiting.

I wonder from where the comment "great service" did come if they first hand did not even answer to your email?

                    Ken:
It comes form the fact that i was very relieved when it was solved on the spot while I was on the phone with James (because my client was getting cranky and I didn't want to lose them). Probably also when it's an urgent matter, email is not the way to go. I am probably irrational but I am glad it is solved.

I agree with ken, it is not a good service.
They requested me the license number, the computer name and that was all. They did not make anything to solve my problem, that as I said before it occurred with Version 10.5 and 11.

I agree with you entirely. If the process was automatic I wouldn't had to sit on pins and needles waiting for an email back which never arrived and make the call the next day.
