Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Try something like:

      ele = $('{grid.componentName}.D.V.R1._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1');
      ele.click();

          Re: click a button from javascript

          With jQuery, it's even easier. I give all the buttons that I want clicked a class of '.clickme', then in onInitializeComplete, I use the code jQuery('.clickme').click(); With this method, you can also target the buttons via css and set them to not even show up on the screen, they are just auto-clicked. I use this method alot when I'm putting linked grids inside of a detail view.

            Re: click a button from javascript

            How do I accomplish this in a Dialog2 Component?

            I tried the following:

            ele = $('{grid.componentName}.D.V.R1._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1');
            ele.click();

            but it didn't work for me.... i seems that it ignores what i have entered. Is this only for grids? or is is for Dialog2 components also?

            Thanks

                  Re: click a button from javascript

                  Works for me! I have an a5w page with a clickable image that onclick executes a js function defined in a ux (dialog) component that contains just a hidden button which in turn has in it's onclick event action js to show a video. Works perfect.

                        Re: click a button from javascript

                        I am not sure of why I can't get it to work. I am trying to use it in the returned javascript from from a callback. If I look at the javascript attribute (Edit onClick Event - view javascript) of the button with an id of BUTTON_2 it shows this

                        Code:
                        {grid.componentName}_O_8F00B50A4C934B3E9DFDBD6BA9BBEE81({grid.rownumber},'{grid.rowId}',this);
                        I have no idea of why there are grid placeholders in a dialog2 component.

                        If I put that in the callback function for javascript returned the button click event fires like I want

                        This works
                        Code:
                        xbCreateAndSavePDF = "{grid.componentName}_O_8F00B50A4C934B3E9DFDBD6BA9BBEE81(this);"
                        This does not work
                        Code:
                        xbCreateAndSavePDF = "{dialog.object}.buttonClick('BUTTON_2');"
                        I wonder why?

                          Re: click a button from javascript

                          What are you doing with the action in the button you are trying to click? Ajax callback? Only that or other stuff too?

                          Also, you could give this a try:
                          Code:
                          $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_2').click();
