Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Displaying Reports on Mobile Device

Accessing Reports off of Grid from PC works fine. Brings up report and then gives option to print in PDF, etc formats. Try the same when accessing report from mobile tablet and it just says report in process, but never displays report. Any suggestions? Not a big deal, but would nice to have it. Just accessing and updating data on mobile device is sufficient.

The only browser that seems to do what you want is firefox mobile. It prompts you for a download and then you can view it with your pdf viewer.

Haven't tried on an Android device, but I am able to view, save to iBooks, email, and wirelessy print the generated PDF reports from any and all of my iOS devices

The "trick" is to have them open in a new browser window. I used the supplied sample Simple Contact Manager - Contact List as a guide to figure out how to do it. If I get some time later today, I'll pop up a quick how-to.
      Cheers!

Re: Displaying Reports on Mobile Device

I would be very interested in the "how to". I can view my pdf termite report on my iPad, but I would like to open it in an App such as PDF Splicer or TypeOnPdf and be able to email it. I finally figured out how to scroll it on my iPad. I currently have it opening in a DIV. How do you have it open in a new browser window?

Did this how to ever happen? Looking for how to do this using Alpha Anywhere as there is no option to open a report in a "browser window" just in a window (which is normally just a modal-popup and doesn't render well on a phone). Is there a way to open a report in a panel? I wouldn't mind using this functionality but when I have tried the report never seems to load?

Load FireFox as browser on Android device. Do not think you can do that on iPhone or iPad, but there may be a look alike you can use.

Re: Displaying Reports on Mobile Device

Instead of using “Window” as a target use XBasic & then define this xbasic function:

                          function openpdf as c (e as p)
                          openpdf = "window.open('"+Session.FormatFileDataURL(e.fileSessionkey) + "','_blank')"
                          end function

In the page just create a <div id="111"></div>

I was O.K. until I got to "In the page just create a <div id="111"></div>"

I am trying to work with your suggested xbasic function: openpdf. Pardon my ignorance, but after that, "In the page just create a <div id="111"></div>"" Where's "the page" you are referring to? I'm using Alpha Anywhere 2.0 now.

In the page just create a <div id="111"></div> means just create a div in the a5w page that are working on now. You must go to the source to create, do not use WYSIWYG. It is just a name for the div, you can use <div id="ZZZ"></div> or any other name, but make sure you reference the same in the properties settings so that Alpha can find the div name.
