    Default Short Time Data Entry

I have a time field set to "Short Time" and formatted as 15:03. If I enter a time (any time) 0915, it displays as 00:00. in order to show what I entered I must enter 09:15. Is not the ':' supposed to be a mask?

    Thanks much,
    TYVM :) kenn

    formatted as 15:03.
Formatted it where? Display (on a form or browse) or field rule mask?

There is no mask for short time in field rules. The format style for the field is 15:03

If you will notice in the Field Properties dialog, the Format Style to which I believe you refer is in the Display Format section. It is not a mask. It only affects the display of the field contents. Much as if you selected UPPERCASE in a character form field object the data entry is not transformed into uppercase.

Yes, You are correct. One would think that since the ':' is there for display, there's no reason why Alpha could not programatically 'mask' it that way as well.

    Thanks, Stan

You don't have to enter the colon, just enter 9 space 15 which will translate to 09:15 am. for pm you could enter 9 space 15 p
