Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: ***FRUSTRATED***** Application Server Stops working Daily

Thank you Luke and Alpha(Jerry). Now that you've wet my appetite do we have an idea on when the pre-release will be out? This is kind of making it difficult for users to get work done.

    Thanks

Re: ***FRUSTRATED***** Application Server Stops working Daily

Question...I've noticed right before it crashes I start getting weird random errors on things that were working moments ago. For example. Right now I'm getting:

Fatal error running a5_ajax_grid(): convert_number(rtc.vtbl.data("ELDER_LAW")): Argument is incorrect data type on line 15 in 1001026:pl

On that field I am using a pre-defined display format of: alltrim(str( convert_type(<value>,"N",250,2"%"))

dB is MySQL 5.5 - field type is decimal with a length of 5, 2 decimals, Allow Null

This was working fine and no work has been done to that grid since 7/16.

        Are you seeing similar behavior?

        Thanks
        Joe

Re: ***FRUSTRATED***** Application Server Stops working Daily

This update did not fix my issue. Still getting the same error after 4 hours of data entry:

          Error running Grid:
Error computing Search Part filter expression.
An unhandled exception (c0000005) was generated.

The only solution is to stop the app server, close it, launch and start it.

I'm not an expert here, but the code
                Code:
                alltrim(str( convert_type(<value>,"N",250,2"%"))
                Seems to be flawed.

                I'm guessing it should be alltrim(str( convert_type(<value>,"N"),250,2,"%"))

Thanks Gregg...I'll give it a try but oddly I get this error too:

Error expanding Grid Part template: convert_number(tbl.data("LIMIT_CYB")): Too few parameters

This is after entering records for a few hours, all different accounts, same set of fields. Only solution is to restart. What I don't understand is how can something that is "wrong" work for a few hours and then suddenly be "wrong"

                  Painfully frustrated at this point.

One other piece of information. This is another odd error that comes up:

Error expanding Grid Part template: Result stack underflow

I've dealt with stack overflows...never heard of an underflow...

                      Joe,
It seems your PFM is working the wrong way. The good news is we should be able to fix it.

Where did you find the convert_number function ?

If it was meant to be convert_type, try convert_type(tbl.date("LIMIT_CYB"),"N").

Stack underflow happen when the stack is empty and a return statement is executed for example. Since the stack is already empty there is no pointer address to return too which generates an underflow error.

                          Gregg...

The only "convert" function that I can think of is the client side formatting that I have set on the field. I have it set to Number, Include the Prefix for US$, and Thousand separator. Beyond that I didn't do anything special. Users just like to see dollars formatted as dollars.

                          Luke...
Thanks but I guess the larger question is Why? and how do I prevent it.

The errors I was seeing may have just been typos as you were typing them in.
