Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How can I Above Grid Display e.checkboxRows.countChecked

    I need help displaying the count of checked rows from multiple pages "above the grid" as indicated below.

    I thought it was easy as putting e.checkboxRows.countChecked in a msg div.

    This sample code works...
    Code from Client-Side Events // onGridRowCheck event
    var msg = 'Row Number: ' + e.rowNumber
    $svs('msg',msg);

    and displaying ....
    Freeform Above Grid

    <div id="msg"></div>
    <br>

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    CHANGED sample I made is in blue and doesn't display the count.
    var msg = 'Total Rows Checked: ' + e.checkboxRows.countChecked
    $svs('msg',msg);

    What is incorrect with my code ?

    THanks

    Re: How can I Above Grid Display e.checkboxRows.countChecked

    The biggest problem with your code is the e.checkboxRows.countChecked parameter isn't available. The help link at the bottom of the client side events definitions builder gives you a link that tells you what parameters are available. In this case you only have e.rowNumber, the selected row's number, and e.checkboxValue, a boolean value of whether or not the checkbox is checked. On a quick look I didn't see any client side events that give you the count of rows checked.

      hello
      "e.checkboxRows.countChecked" is available on ajax callback. so if you put a button and write an ajax callback function
      you may be able to do.
      i do not know, for sure.

        Re: How can I Above Grid Display e.checkboxRows.countChecked

        Here's a function I call in the grid's OnGridRowCheck event:

        Code:
        function checkct as c (e as p)
        	checkct = e.checkboxRows.countChecked
        	c_Ckcount = ltrim(str(checkct))
        	msg = "Count of Locations Selected: " + c_Ckcount
        	checkct = "$svs('checkboxct','" + msg + "');"
        end function

          Re: How can I Above Grid Display e.checkboxRows.countChecked

          Steve,
          I added a div Above grid code
          div id="checkboxct"></div>
          <br>

          Your code goes into section Code / Xbasic Functions

          next

          How do I call this function from the onGridRowCheck event ? thought putting function name "checkct()" in the event would call this function...

          also tried $svs('checkboxct')

          I am wrong again.

            It's an AJAX Callback. For instance:

            Code:
            {grid.Object}.ajaxCallback('G',1,'checkct');
            -Steve
            sigpic

              Steve,

              I put your code in onGridRowCheck.

              This error "Unable to get value of the property 'countChecked': object is null or undefined
              and Error executing Ajax callback function 'checkct'. Error reported was: Function: 'checkct' was not recognized displayed.

              Also I don't understand why use use a rowNum '1' when this will fire for all checkbox clicked.

              Thanks again

                Re: How can I Above Grid Display e.checkboxRows.countChecked

                Try the following (bit convoluted but seems to give the count you want)

                1) create a span with an id like (Nbr Selected: <span id="tot1">0</span>). Place it outside the grid. Do not place it in a free form area, otherwise it will reset to 0 when you navigate; must be outside the grid placeholder

                2) In client side event onGridRowCheck put this:
                if(e.checkboxValue==true) { $('tot1').innerHTML= Number($('tot1').innerHTML)+1; }
                else if(e.checkboxValue==false) { $('tot1').innerHTML= Number($('tot1').innerHTML)-1; }

                3) Need to hide the Select All check box: in onGridRender (client side) put this $('GRID1.CHECKBOXSELECTOR').style.display='none'; or something similar. If the user clicks on the Select all it could mess up the calc.

                and see how it goes.

                  Steve,

                  Your code is almost working. It doesn't count the first clicked record. Will start counting 2nd, 3rd and so forth....
                  1st checkct = 0
                  2nd checkct = 1
                  3rd checkct = 2

                  The first click is omitted. Any ideas why ?

                  The display is "Count of Locations Selected: 0 " on first record.

                  Thanks Harrison

                    I didn't know free form will reset to 0. I was able to get Steves code to work but... not counting first record.

                    Thanks

                      Gaby,
                      I put code into onGridRender and onGridRowCheck. The display I put into "Total Records" message.

                      my code is:
                      (Nbr Selected: <span id="tot1">0</span>)
                      <br>

                      Error: Unable to set value of the property 'display': object is null or undefined

                      When I goto another page it resets count. I need to display the count and continue it on other pages... like a running total

                        When you navigate to another page the grid is reloaded, so whatever was in a div or span in the FF disappears. To keep it there; need to place your element outside the grid.

                          Do you mean on a a5w page ?

                          On the earlier error message any thoughts.

                            To place your span outside the grid, need to use Master Template - put the parts you want, then a <br> then the span.
                            For expl: {grid.Grid_Part} <br> Nbr of Selected:&nbsp;&nbsp; <span id="tot1">0</span>

                              Harrison:
                              The id of the Select All in my expl was "GRID1.CHECKBOXSELECTOR", yours is probably different. You need to find it in the source page.
