Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

conditional format for lookup field's template

    Hi,

Is is possible to set a fields look-up temple to a certain color when the a value in that row meets a certain condition.

i.e. if the value in a specified file in row 2 is 1 then that row is to show in green.
if the value in a specified field in row 5 is 2 then that row would be red .... etc...

    Thanks
    Lee

Re: conditional format for lookup field's template

Do you really want a specific field in a specific row to be green or red (for example) if the value in that field is x?
The question reads that if a field in ROW 2 is 1 then show green. If a field in ROW 5 is 2 then show red.
Or... do you just want a field to show red or green depending on it's value. If that's the case then look at the fields Client-side Properties, Conditional Style.

Sorry... do you want the entire Row to be a conditional colour?

Re: conditional format for lookup field's template

      Thanks for your reply.

I'm trying to get the whole row to format (color) based on a value in that row.
This is for the template that opens up in the look-up field.

I'm guessing that the HTML for the lookup template will need to have some form of check (if then else statement) to detect the value of the field and then emit the color for that entire row. if this is the way to do it, or if it is how it is done, then my question really would become.. "how do write an HTML statement to process and 'if then else' (or select case) and set the color of the row in an an html table. (i think).

Must be a long day, Lee... I can't think of where "This is for the template that opens up in the look-up field. " is. Going to look for that...

Would this help... in the Properties of your Grid... under Shading and Dividers... Conditional Style (Client-Side).

it is located in the look up definition of a control. you can select a template on how to display the data once the users begins to type and selects and entry. it is the list of entries that i'm wanting to customize and 'conditionally' format.

Now I see it... and it looked like it was possible to get at the HTML, but it doesn't seem to be working the way you'd think. Let's assume an edit-combo list. In the Edit-combo Definition you have a choice of Load Data Method - either AtRenderTime or Ajax Callback. The notes for this option say...

Specify if the data displayed in the edit-combo box is loaded when the Grid is initially loaded, or is loaded dynamically by making an Ajax callback when the edit-combo is opened.
But it doesn't look like AtRenderTime is being honoured. The edit-combo data is not loaded when the grid is loaded. There seems to be no difference between the two options.

However, we have to look carefully at the description... maybe it's a matter of interpretation. The edit-combo data may get "loaded" somewhere... just not rendered into the edit-combo list.

If the edit-combo were rendered when the Grid was intitially loaded then we could get at the HTML, test the values in the table and then make some changes based on the table values.

I also thought we might be able to run some javascript inside the <td> tag, but I can't see how to do that.

Maybe you want to get confirmation from Alpha that the AtRenderTime is actually happening... IOW... should AtRenderTime be building and rendering the edit-combo... or is data simply being loaded somewhere?

The reply from alpha was that this is an HTML template and likely an HTML/Javascript guru could figure it out. They couldn't provide an answer at this time--but we well worth asking. Back to the drawing board for now...
