Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    “Javascript Action” property NOT Showing?

I downloaded the full patch so I couold use {dialog.object}.refreshDropdownBoxChoices) to refresh a dropdown box and it is working fine, just as shown in the tutorial video. A new issue is that when reviewing the videos for D60 Prompt For a New Choice to Add to a Dropdownbox and Dynamically Add the Choice to the Dropdownbox, which is all part of the same video series, the presenter shows in the Properties of the Dialog itself a Javescript Action property I DONT HAVE that property in my list? It must be there because the component I download works just like in the video. Am I going crazy, or is there a setting I missed to make this Dialog Property show. I am using the component downloaded for use with the video just to make sure nothing I m doing is the issue and the property still does not show. (PS: when I use the search function in the properties box, it can find it.) Below is a screen shot of the tutorial video screen and my system screen. Can anyone help?

      Hey Carl,

In the Video list, where you find D60, you'll find a notice just above the video link that says...

      (Requires build 2766_3968 or above)

Check to make sure you in line with this.

And... just a friendly comment about posting... a post of "Nothing?" usually gets you nothing.

I know Alpha and XBasic and Javascript is a bucket of stuff to wrap you're head around... but keep trudging on... it's well worth the journey. Cheers!

And also make sure you entered all your extra license codes that Alpha should have sent to you, specifically the one for "subscriber benefits"

I just re-read Chris' post. My Lic Number is showing in the About Alpha Five screens but what is the Lic for "subscriber benifits"?

Re: “Javascript Action” property NOT Showing?

The subscriber benefits license code is a separate license code in your licensing email (or may be a separate email) that enables additional features, such as Javascript Actions. You may need to contact sales tomorrow if you cannot locate your code. But let me back up, did you get an A5 subscription or just a basic package? Subscriber benefits are for... well... subscribers only (to the subscription).

I bought the entire package for version 10 but only bought an upgrade for Web development only.
