Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    using page override settings

    The V11 page includes an overrides section for changing settings in the grid at display time, but I can't figure out the syntax.

    I have a grid named qms_issues that includes an accordion tab and I want to specify the tabs that will be open when the grid is initialized. Depending on where the grid is called from, I want different selections. So, I though I could put the grid in different pages and use the overrides to make the selection.

    I found the settings for the tab in the Xbasic area, as follows:

    with tmpl.field_info[49]
    .TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"

    So, in the overrides, I've tried
    field_info[49].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"
    and
    tmpl.field_info[49].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"
    and
    tmpl_QMS_ISSUES.field_info[49].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"

    but none of those had any effect.

    Anyone know the right syntax?

    Thanks

    Re: using page override settings

    I found a genie for inserting the component into the page and it includes a magic function:
    flagMustRecalculateGridLayout = .t.

    It doesn't say where it is supposed to go, so I copied it into the override settings, but that didn't work either....I'll give it another half day or so beofre I give up and create 8 different grids, but I'm still hoping someone knows...

    Thanks

      That's what I thought...nobody knows how or nobody uses it....either way, I can't wait any longer, so I'm going ahead with making 8 different versions of the same grid.

        Re: using page override settings

        Pat,

        I tried but couldn't see a way to put an accordion control in the grid proper. I put one in a detail view and was able to set the tab order using the override settings with this:
        Code:
        tmpl.DetailField_Info[4].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"

          Yeah, Pat, what Jim is doing. Couple notes:

          1) I'd look at doing it in the OnGridExecute event.

          2) Syntax would be:
          Code:
          e.tmpl.DetailField_Info[4].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = "1,3"
          3) If this doesn't work, try the appropriate one of these to recalc things:

          tmpl.flagMustRecalcGridLayout
          tmpl.flagMustRecalcSearchLayout
          tmpl.flagMustRecalcDetailViewLayout
          tmpl.flagMustRecalculateGridLayoutAndControls
          tmpl.flagMustRecalculateDetailViewLayoutAndControls
          tmpl.flagMustRecalculateSearchLayoutAndControls
          tmpl.flagMustRecalculateAllProperties

          Proper syntax would be:
          Code:
          e.tmpl.flagMustRecalcGridLayout = .t.
          Use the one that addresses the least/most specific part you need - takes less time. Biggest hammer is the tmpl.flagMustRecalculateAllProperties

            Jim and Steve,

            Thanks to both of you. Decided to give it another try and this finally worked:

            In the page, set SESSION.TABPANES = "1,3"

            Then in the OnGridExecute, put
            e.tmpl.field_info[49].TabControl.InitialOpenAccordionPanes = SESSION.TABPANES
            e.tmpl.flagMustRecalculateGridLayoutAndControls = .t.

            That is working.
