Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

    Hi Peter, just seen your post...not been on here for a while. On mobile devices where the grid exceeds the size of device, I still have not found a way to keep focus on the part of the grid that is lower down on the mobile device screen. As soon as the auto-refresh grid has triggered, the focus goes back to the top of the grid. As users will be watching for specific results coming in, I really do need the focus to remain on the match scores on screen. Did you have any luck on this ?

      hope you see this reply sooner than 3 years.

      go to properties and select row events and then onClick event add this code
      Code:
      var j1 = setInterval(myTimer, 1000);
      function myTimer() {
      {grid.Object}.refreshRow({Grid.RowNumber});
      }
      and it should work and here a screencast

        Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

        Hi my friend, thank you for your suggestions.
        I have watched the video and what I am doing is slightly different to what is contained in the video.
        The problem is only apparent when using a small mobile device. Also the user would not be clicking on any buttons or making changes. The Administrator will be inputing scores for matches and the User's will be watching on mobile devices as well as PC's and Laptops. I am using AUTO-REFRESH (5 secs) to update all scores on the grid as results come in. All works perfectly regarding the scores updating, but as I say when viewing on SMALL mobile devices like a smartphone, if the user is watching scores on a lower section of the screen, then after the AUTO-REFRESH, the screen scrolls up to the top.

          Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

          yes, if you use auto refresh the grid, the grid goes back to first row. but if you refresh a row it stays put.
          i am wondering if you can change to refresh every row individually than the whole grid.
          i will see if i can fashion up something to that effect.

            Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

            As many results are being input from many matches, I must do a grid refresh as there are 28 matches in each group of 8 players. This means that 224 match results will be randomly input during the early stages of the event.

              Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

              somehow the row needs to be updated or the screen needs to scroll down again to the first record that was visible before refreshing.
              i need to think about it. let you know.

                  Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

                  okay here is something to try:
                  on the (client side) onGridRender event add this code
                  Code:
                  var j1 = {Grid.object}._rowsInGrid;
                  var f1 = setInterval(myTimer,1000);

                  function myTimer() {
                  for (j = 1; j <= j1; j++){
                  {grid.Object}.refreshRow(j);
                  }
                  }
                  see if that works on a mobile device.
                  here is another screencast on a browser:

                  hope this works well.

                      Re: Refreshing Grid - Live Scores

                      Hi, in my match result system, during the later rounds I am running calculations to work out which player has progresed to the next round. At the moment I can only update the later rounds of matches by putting my code on the "AFTERGRIDSUBMIT" on the client side events. This is triggered by way of a submit button which only works if I have dirty fields etc.
                      How do I run this same event when the grid is initialised ?
                      Basically I need to update the grid with the player names displayed before any scores are input.
                      At the moment I have to dirty the grid then save to make the player names appear, which is far from ideal.

                      Thank you

                        i am not sure i understand fully. whatever is on the grid row will be updated without being dirty. as long as the field is in the grid it will get updated.
                        unless there is something else i do not understand.

                            Hi my friend. regarding the above code you kindly created for me, as mentioned the code works perfectly regarding updating the selected record containing the results, with the scores updating without scrolling. However, what I have noticed is that when using the navigation buttons to select records, the selected record does not always display immediately, as it shows the previous record before displaying the selected record. As a result of this there is a pause in the selection process which slows things down considerably. When switching back and forth to either of the 8 records, after a while things seem to slow down even more as 2 or more previous records briefly show before the selected records appears. As suggested I have put your code on the "On Grid Render". Is it possible to modify the code to eliminate this problem ?

                              Code:
                              var j1 = {Grid.object}._totalRowsInGrid;
                              var f1 = setInterval(myTimer,1000);
