Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Getting Count unique & Duplicates

We have a big mailing list , we need a report of each carrier route peice count? Our database contains a field called carier route which changes accordingly , so we trying to know the piece count for each carrier route, we tried group but we can't get the total. Ex; if carrier route #1 has 50 records even in page 1 & page 20 of the report we shall get the figure not broken up by page like 25 & 25 but the total, We know this shall be very simple, but we seem to have something missing out, Also how to make the detail report displaying carrier route & next to it the totals only 1 line for each carrier route.

    Thank You

I dont know for sure what you are asking. Is it that you want subtotals by page of the report at the time of printing the report?
Carrier Route changes accordingly? according to what?

Not by page, total from the whole list (file)
Carrier Route every zip code may have several carrier route ex: Zip Code 10010 can have carrier route #1 & so may have Zip Code 10020 carrier route #1 & so may have Zip Code 1000 can have carrier route, we want a detailed per file from each Zipcode in report (not by page)

Re: Getting Count unique & Duplicates

If you create a group on carrier route you can easily get the piece count for the carrier route by dropping the piece field into the carrier route footer and specifying total. If you must group only by zipcode and any given carrier route could cover multiple zipcodes you will have to use a tablesum() or dbsum() expression.

Re: Getting Count unique & Duplicates

If you don't have a field for piece count how can you ever expect to

"we need a report of each carrier route peice count"

If you create a group on cr (carrier route?) and drop any field into the group footer and specify count you will see a count of the records in the group. Where you expect to get the piece count is beyond my comprehension.

Right so that field that has all the "6"s - whatever that is called you use as "Piece count" as instructed in post #4 and group on whichever grouped field contains "10952 C005"

Re: Getting Count unique & Duplicates

If Ray's suggestion doesn't solve things for you please post a sample of the table, and a hand drawn example of the report you'd want produced from that specific sample. Your narrative descriptions of what you have and what you want have my head spinning.

When you post the data sample please attach it in DBF format, so we don't have to retype anything. Thanks.

After you upload the file make sure you use the Insert Inline button at the bottom.

And check the size of the upload file against the upload limit. You may need to copy your database to a temp folder, and then delete some data there in order to get under the upload size limit.

It would appear that you need assistance from a moderately knowledgeable IT person whose native language is English to help diagnose why you can't upload.
