Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

OK - since this is a thread about subscriptions and my previous posts relating to subscriptions have been deleted (probably by Selwyn or Richard) could Alpha please explain why...

Are you not allowed to ask questions about their subscription model?

          Hi Ahmed,

The best place to ask about the Subscription program is to contact [email protected].

Different people here have their own thoughts and they may not match your requirments.

With the knowledge that I may incur difficulties at a later date, may I say: It may be a bad thing to discuss the subscription plans on this forum because it angers someone who is capable of deleting the threads.

If I disappear from the forum, you folks will know why!

That said. I think it disgusting that someone would stoop so low!!! What are they hiding? Did someone actually hit on the bad side of things?

                Ahmed,

I may be wrong, but I do not think that is out yet. They do say it is coming though. I am not a subscriber which I have been very open about in other threads that were mostly deleted.

If it sounds like I am griping a bit? I AM, but have been with alpha since the late 1980's. They don't like it when I speak out, but I do anyhow. Just trying to get them to not delete posts even when it hurts.

                  Re: question about alpha subscribeh

The problem with deleting threads is that some users might then be tempted to take their comments to Facebook and other, more public, forums.

Ahmed ... from some of the dissatisfied comments on this board (re: subscriptions) you might be better off just buying the software outright, for now. (If you are having trouble giving a company $700 of your money, that is not a very good sign).

You have a learning curve to contend with, regardless, so if you just buy the software for $200-$300 that represents only 2, 3 or 4 months of a subscription plan. You can always sign up on subscription, once a little more is known about Version 12 ... "Anywhere" ... it's features, release date, etc.

Also, I think what you are seeing on the order page is the quantity ... how many subscriptions you wish to buy ... and not the number of months. Once you sign up for a subscription, it is ongoing.

Well .. am not trying to be rude to anyone , but I been using alpha about 4 years now in my career and I used the forums many times ..... no one ever deleted my thread and I agree that deleting the thread that reqiured explanation is low , however any moderator or a responsible person can do mistakes cus we are humans therefore we do mistakes besides having subjects that could harsh employees or emprass them I am gussing they took the right decegin and I am also sure that if they have a bug or a mistake on the subscreption plan they going to fix it and explan it with apologids cus thats how professional ppl works

                      PaulM,

You may be correct about that. The last subscription offer I got was for 129.00 a month.

The best I understand is that it is from now on. The question is mostly: what happens after you have had the subscription for a period of time and then opt out, can you still use the product(s).

This has been asked several times and not answered to my knowledge.

                      *The Offer*
If you purchase an Alpha Five Subscription by Monday, January 14th, for just $129/month (which is $30/month below our regular price), you'll immediately receive the entire library of Alpha Five v11 software, feature packs, books and videos, valued at over $6700. And, you will also receive each major release of our platform during your subscription period. This offer comes with a full, 90-day money back guarantee! And, beyond that, you can cancel your subscription at any time if you find it falls short of your needs.

I don't think even Alpha have a clear answer to that, Dave. From my perspective, subscription was offered as a "suck it and see" ... a trial balloon.

Ahmed ... I paid $367 for outright purchase of one developer, one unlimited desktop runtime, one WAS, two books and the tutorial videos. I was VERY happy with that deal and it will fit my needs perfectly for the next few years.

                          I hate meters!

"Mobile"? ... "Shmobile" ... for now.

I bought the developer and unlimited runtime with no was or books, but for a bit less money. I am happy with my purchase as it covers what I need.

Remember that doing several web apps = 1 was for each deployment. That did turn me off, but others seem to have no problem with that. Oh well. LOL

I am sure alpha will come through in the end.

                              Dave,

I'm not worried about additional WAS licences.

I have all I need to create/"finalize" web- or desktop-based applications. (Btw, multiple web sites/apps CAN be accommodated via one WAS licence. That is enough to develop, test and [onsite] demonstrate multiple web applications).

Additional WAS licenses are a normal progression and are mere pass-through client costs ... plus markup! ... once applications go live.

Like paying more income tax, an increased transaction volume/the need for extra WAS licences is usually a VERY GOOD sign!
